Very very disappointed. ROOM: We stayed in Room15 which was a nice spacious room with a lovely view but it has no air con and the sun on it all day so in August was very very hot and stuffy. On our 1st day we had a broken toilet that wouldn’t flush which was reported to reception and we were called that afternoon to be advised that a part was needed and maintenance would fit it later that day. We arrived back late that evening to the hotel to find it wasn’t fixed so asked again at reception who said they would report it again to maintenance. We then we heard nothing, no one came to fix or look and when checking out reception seemed to know nothing about it. We spent the duration of our stay flushing the toilet with a bucket from the bin. POOL/SAUNA: The pool area is filthy, the sauna has a sign on the door stating temporarily out of service but from reading other reviews it seems this has been the case for many months at least. The pool changing areas are dirty and very very tired the gents toilet doesn’t even have a door! There are ceiling tiles milling exposing electrical cables and bags and things piled up in the corner of the pool area. There are only 2 seats so if you want to sit and watch the kids play tough, you had better get used to standing instead! FOOD/RESTAURANTS: We ate at the Buho restaurant on our 1st evening and waited almost 2 hours for our food to arrive. When it did it was smoking black it was that burnt. It was sent back to be replaced with another that was also burnt and inedible. The staff were apologetic but unhelpful and didn’t really care. Drinks were served luke warm on a day that was 28° and I had to ask for ice. Breakfast was very understaffed, hit and miss whether you got what you ordered and by the time it did arrive we just accepted what was delivered on the 2nd day because it took so long. Tea was served luke warm, you had to ask to milk, coffee was like treacle and again not hot. Food was adequate at best. Overall I would rate this a 2* hotel. In fact I’ve stayed in other 2* hotels that are better than this and that I would return to over Fermain Valley.

We stayed at the Fermain Valley hotel for 3 nights. Its position was stunning, overlooking Fermain Bay, with a short (but steep) walk through the hotel’s grounds to get to the lovely bay below. Room (#10, Silver option) was very spacious and well appointed with a nice sea view. Breakfast was cooked to order with a great variety of other items. It was lovely to sit on the terrace for breakfast. We ate in the steak restaurant and Mexican restaurant, both great. Throughout our stay, all staff we encountered were really helpful and attentive. Overall, hard to find a fault

This is a very nice hotel in a good position. The staff are extremely professional and nothing is too much trouble for them. Unfortunately the food in the restaurants is very very expensive and for most people would be far too much to use every day. Could not fault the room which we paid an upgrade for a Gold room with a walk in shower. Everything and above that you could want with a balcony. Just a pity that we had to find other places to eat in the evening as a trip to the Steak House would cost in excess of £80 plus the service charge which is 12.5%. A glass of wine will cost you £11,.00!!!!

Not a lot more to say! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fermain valley and , given it was a treat for a special birthday, the staff beforehand were really helpful in assisting me to get what I wanted , even when there was a last minute change of dates. Impressive service. And good old fashioned service was present throughout. We had a platinum room so very comfortable and well provisioned. Ate dinner in Oceans a couple of times. Good if not fantastic food. The small plates better probably than the main dishes. Wine list great. If you haven't tried Chateau Musar white (the red available and one of my favourites) you should. Not often at all that you see these bottles at a restaurant. The maitre'D Justin from Bulgaria has outstanding interpersonal skills and one of the best I have come across. We didn't go to the mexican place though heard a lot of people complaining about the food there. Breakfasts had an amazing choice of cooked but my one complaint, and an area for remedying, is that the bread at breakfast was never fresh. Dry loaves and even stale baguette every morning - and they could do better than boxed cereals (decent muesli?). .Needs sorting asap- if they sourced bread from the same place as Le Nautique in town that would be a start. But a great place to stay and highly recommended. PS It is out of town but plenty of busses from the road above the hotel

What a lovely hotel! What made it so good was the staff. They are brilliant, couldn’t be more helpful and so attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious, the breakfasts in particular are amazing! Such a fantastic choice. Somewhere I’d be eager to return to.

Absolutely phenomenal! The menu is set out so you can choose either a larger meal or a selection of small plates which are equally delicious! Our server was Akshay and he was polite and helpful. Food was divine and beautiful view of the bay. Will absolutely return and highly reccomend!!

Fermain Valley is exceptional! This was our second visit to a Handpicked hotel, and it didn’t disappoint. The rooms are comfortable with stunning views. The staff is outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful, making our stay feel extra special. The food is delicious & the atmosphere is welcoming. A top choice for a memorable stay in Guernsey.

Not up to high standards as one would expect from Hand Picked hotels. Venue Room-: * very noisy from very early hours in the morning with bin lorries till late night with local restaurant goers. * no Air-conditioning which is an issue during hot weather, * bed and pillows very uncomfortable. * shower- unreliable- plumbing system inadequate leading to pressure variation when adjusting temperature to the point of zero output ( one could hear the pump running without water coming out of the shower!) * cleanliness unsatisfactory- headboard with residual dirt, dirty corners of the bathroom and the room in general. * NO FRIDGE! unacceptable in a 4* hotel ( we have stayed in 2 and 3 star hotels which include this facility) * TV is not internet compatible since during period of bad weather one cannot stream movies. Breakfast: * limited choice of buffet food in comparison to other Hand Picked hotels so one had to order from the menu. * breakfast menu ordering was a lottery- better staff training desperately needed as the food received was at variance from the original order on multiple occasions. Staff: * generally polite, but not well trained and not very well informed- for example upon arrival the receptionists was unable to provide a pricing of the breakfast. * reception desk not attended on several occasions ( “Back in 15mins” sign is not acceptable at this level). Facilities: very limited * very small pool, * sauna the size of telephone box! * changing rooms- shocking. Complete lack of privacy- shower cubicle with see through door not separated from the changing area. * fixtures and fittings showing signs of wear and tear to the point where shower cubicle door has fallen off and hit me on the head! Water dripping from the ceiling in the gents changing room. It should be noted that reference to the sign in/ out book at reception desk indicated that most users spent no longer than 20 minutes in the pool/ sauna area
