We stayed here on a school trip, and the layout of the room was strange. For some reason, the bathroom with the unit bath was located at the end of the Japanese-style room and the veranda (a space unique to inns with chairs and tables). It was a little uncomfortable for both the room and the people using the toilet or bath. Furthermore, the window was so poorly fitted that it was difficult to open, the screen was torn to the point that a rhinoceros beetle could get in, and the chair on the veranda was not only worn out but also had a broken back, making it strangely uneasy and impossible to sit on. The other rooms, including the rooms above and below this one, seemed to have a reasonable layout and the furniture was not shabby, so it seemed that only the room assigned to my group was bad. It may have been a room that is not usually used, like a room that is not opened. By the way, the refrigerator in the room was sealed with a padlock. Furthermore, the Yoshitsune hotpot for dinner was too cold and turned into a cold dish, and the yakiniku was heated with solid fuel, so we were made to feel the lack of heat. And, ponzu sauce and sauce were prepared for dipping meat and vegetables in, but for some reason, some seats did not have sauce. As a result, my friend did not know the taste of the sauce (though the sauce was delicious). As for the meat itself, they did not prepare six types of meat, probably due to the number of people or budgetary issues, but they omitted wild boar, quail, and chicken from the meats introduced on the website. For breakfast, we had rolled omelette*, miso soup, rice, seaweed, and pickles, but everything was cold as if it had been taken out of the refrigerator. Although the dining area was on tatami mats, there were no cushions or chairs provided, which was hard on my body tired from a long journey, even though I was a high school student. Sitting upright on the tatami mats and eating hardened white rice with cold, damp grilled meat* and well-chilled miso soup, I felt like I was in prison, and a mysterious sense of guilt welled up inside me. I cried. There were times when I felt the kindness of the staff, such as them leaving a pot of water for me, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was treated roughly. I'd like to try again on a solo trip someday.
