We stayed at the Catalonia Hotel in Barcelona on the 29th and 30th of June and had an extremely frustrating experience. Upon check-in, a €200 deposit was requested for my dog, with the guarantee of a refund upon check-out. However, at the end of my stay, I had difficulty obtaining a refund due to a supposed “card machine error”. After several days and multiple attempts to contact the hotel, I still have not received the refund. Although they sent a document as proof, I noticed that it had been altered and was not valid. Furthermore, the original receipt stated “No refund”, which suggests that there was an error in the transaction from the beginning. I am extremely unhappy with the way the hotel is handling this situation. They have stopped responding to my attempts to contact them and to this day I have not received a refund. It has reached the point where I have reported the incident to the Sant Andreu de la Barca police as suspected fraud. Based on this experience, I do not recommend this hotel due to the lack of professionalism shown and the extreme difficulty in resolving a problem that they themselves caused. If you are looking for a stay free of similar problems, I suggest considering other accommodation options in Barcelona and the surrounding area.
