Quality Inn & Suites Oceanside Near Camp Pendleton

The location is on the high speed side, it is easy to find and the navigation is accurate. The young man at the front desk was very enthusiastic. Booking in advance on weekends does not make it easy to book a room. The room is big. .
Courtyard San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center

Downtown San Diego
Admittedly, we selected this hotel because it was the best price in the area and was very close to Petco Park. Since we were in San Diego to attend a game, it was an easy decision. Our room was fine but fairly small. The bathroom was quite large and very nice. (I would have settled for a slightly smaller bathroom with larger room.) Our friends' room was even smaller. The rooftop bar had a great view and was very nicely set up. The one big negative I had....It was advertised online and in the elevator that the Bistro offered drinks and food throughout the day. The reality was that, due to limited staffing, it was closed. Complimentary coffee was available there....if you were lucky enough to find it. We were later told to just wave down the front desk person to get more coffee. I understand that, due to Covid, places are short staffed. I let them know that they need to change their web site since we were expecting to find a place within the hotel to grab coffee and snacks or a few bites. Otherwise, we were able to walk to so much in the area.
Hampton Inn Carlsbad-North San Diego County

Located almost opposite to the McClellan Palomar airport, the Hampton Inn is a good option to stay in Carlsbad. The hotel is located almost 3 miles from Interstate 5, but the road connecting the hotel to the highway, Palomar Airport road, is pretty wide and I found that it can get you to/from the interstate fairly quickly. The check-in experience was smooth. Andrew, who was at the front desk, was able to give us a room earlier than their usual check-in time because we had called ahead earlier to say that we will be arriving prior to the hotel's 3 PM check-in time. The room was a standard Hampton Inn room, decent sized and some adequate toiletries in the bathroom. However, the Wi-Fi strength was very bad in our room and when I informed the front desk about that, they were able to change my room to a different room the next day morning, closer to the center of the hallway where the routers were placed. While the signal strength was better there and I was able to connect and use it for work, there were occasional instances of the Wi-Fi cutting out disconnecting my laptop. The beds were comfortable, there was little noise as almost all of the property barring the front portion, faces away from the main road. There was a microwave and mini fridge in my room. The complimentary breakfast was really good during my stay here - there were some items that varied from day-to-day. There were eggs, bacon, sausage links, waffles, bread, muffins, oatmeal, cereals and fresh fruit on offer on all days. They also served biscuit and gravy for breakfast one day. It was a fairly good spread, something that I have come to expect from Hampton Inn! I did check out the hotel pool, it was a fairly basic outdoor pool and they had pool towels available at the front desk. I wouldn't term the pool very appealing but hey, the Pacific Ocean is quite nearby! There are a few restaurants nearby to grab food. It would also be a miss from my part if I didn't specially mention the staff at the front desk, who were always available with a smile and helped me with an early check-in and late check-out because of my travel plans - kudos to everyone going the extra mile! There are a few cons though, I did feel that the property is a little bit older than some of the Hampton Inns that I have stayed at in the past. I was a little surprised by the lack of sanitizing stations at the hotel, especially near the front desk/breakfast areas. While they did have hand sanitizing stations, they were non-functional and that isn't good. I would also encourage the property to take a closer look at Wi-Fi and internet speeds at different rooms - in this competitive environment, these points can hold sway on whether a traveler chooses to stay in a property or not.
La Jolla Shores Hotel

First time I came there with my husband in November 2021, and second time - with my middle daughter of 11 years old in March 2022. I love this hotel -we took both times side sea view - park and ocean -amazing view! Probably front beach view is better, but for us too expensive. Don't recommend rooms without view. All rooms ( I suppose) have balcony, where pleasant to sit to have tea (or drinks in the evening). More romantic place than family. But my daughter loved pool and beach. So it's family too:) Close to hotel there is nice park with kids stuff - so families are welcome. Standard Rooms are pretty big and have two queen beds. So both time it were two of us - but it can be easily 4 persons, especially if it is family with 2 adults and 2 kids. Breakfast - for additional money is medium, not bad, but in city we had better breakfasts. Bar is nice:) Dinner-never tried. But within 150-300 meters of walk - great restaurants -italian (2) and others. Stuff is very friendly and pleasant. Rooms are clean and not tired. I will definetely return there. Also - we like to walk -it is 20 min walk or 5-7 min drive to La Jolla caves, seals. I did it both times and will do again -love to watch sea lions, seals and birds.

Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines

Black's Beach
Stayed for five nights for a business trip. I will admit, due to its proximity to the Torrey Pines Golf Course I expected the hotel to be fancier than it was. It wasn't fancy, but it was a very solid, nice hotel in a great location! When I say ”great location” I am referring to it being right on the golf course, which is right on the ocean! The grounds are beautiful and serene. Can't be beat! If you are looking for a location that is walkable to a lot of restaurants and things to do, this is not your place. I don't golf, so can't speak to that side of things. I do enjoy walks in nature, and to that end, the hotel's proximity to Torrey Pines State Park is amazing. It was less than a mile walk to the entrance to the park trails. I was there for work so wish I had more time to explore, but just the little bit I did was refreshing. The trails are well-marked, and the front desk will give you a printed map if you ask. One minor shoulder shrug came from the fitness center. It's quite small for the size of the hotel. Three treadmills, two of which were out of order, four ellipticals, and two bikes. There was a variety of free weights and one multi-machine as well. No water cooler. I was there for a conference that included a lot of active-duty military, so you can imagine that space was at a premium in the mornings. I would love to see an upgraded facility that takes advantage of the views! I didn't use the restaurant, but the lunch and cocktail hour the conference had catered was very good. There is a coffee shop in the lobby that brews Starbucks drinks and has a variety of pastries and bottled drinks, as well. My room was quite large and had everything I needed. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. Shower was large, water pressure good, and the bathroom was definitely larger than most hotel baths.
