2-Star Hotels in San Diego

It used to be a Comfort Inn that we have always stayed at for over 10 years but now a Best Western. Very nice upgrades, great and friendly staff, love the location, A good place to stay. Close to downtown, Old Town, Zoo, and 5 minutes to the beach and shopping and golf just 5 minutes away also.

I had the opportunity to stay here on the 18-20th of January and received excellent service from Doreen at the front desk, who was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and very helpful with my check in process. I travel quit a bit with my company and told them If we have to go back to San Diego, This is where i would like to stay. The breakfast was very good and the rooms and bed very clean and comfortable.

Always impressed with this quaint little hotel. The rooms are clean and ready ontime. It's located in a quiet environment and convenient to most San Diego locations. The friendly staff is always available to assist and keep the hotel classy. It's my go-to hotel when I'm in San Diego!

The accommodation includes a buffet breakfast. There are many choices. The room is spacious and hygienic. The swimming pool is thin, so I didn't go swimming. The overall feeling is good. I will recommend it to my friends.

Made a last minute decision to spend a day in San Diego. Because it was a last minute decision during a weekend, hotel prices in SoCal were insane. I ended up paying over $100 to stay at this Motel 6 for one night. Honestly, if you pay more than $50 a night, you're being ripped off. Not the best parking lot. I had to park on an extremely sloped part of it that left my vehicle at an almost 45 degree angle side-to-side. Had to step over homeless people to get through the front door of the motel. They were in the lobby too. The motel looks like a homeless shelter both inside and out. Check in and out were okay. Hotel clerks were nice. Most of the rooms in this motel face the inside, which makes the rooms darker, dingier, and more cramped-feeling than they already are. My room was dirty. There were still bits of someone else's dental debris in the sink. Also, black mold on the walls in the shower stall. I love a good, high pressure shower, but the shower had the pressure of a fire hydrant - so good that it hurt! The tub also had a slow drain. Terrible bed. It was essentially on a board and the mattress wasn't very good. Homeless shelter bedding provided, including a thin blanket. No in-room safe. There was a TV but no microwave or fridge. The property is located downtown although not all that close to the major attractions in San Diego if you don't have a car. Balboa Park is a mile away, I believe. Definitely regret staying here.

I stay here when I’m in town. It’s great location, the service is great and the place is clean.

This hotel has a good location. It's two miles from SAN, the cruise terminal, and at the entrance of Little Italy. Harborview is across the street which has restaurants and a park. La Jolla is about 12 miles. Surf Sports park in Del Mar is a 30 minute drive. This hotel is not the newest but in fair condition. The lobby is welcoming. There is a complimentary breakfast with waffles, bagels, eggs, breakfast potatoes, fruit, juice, oatmeal, cereal, and some type of meat (sausage, bacon, etc.) There are several unhoused sleeping and walking around the streets bordering the hotel. The park across the street offers restrooms that are used by the unhoused. Many steps are taken to ensure security - doors locked from 8pm-10am, garage/garage elevators/lobby bathrooms only accessible with room key, security outside after dusk. Be warned. There is a train behind the hotel which runs into the deep night. The west side of the hotel faces Pacific Highway and cars/ambulances/fire trucks run all night long. If you are a light sleeper, pick a room on the north side of the hotel or bring your ear plugs. Also, parking was $40 a night!

Nice hotel, right next to the park and close to the sea. You can go to the Midway Island aircraft carrier if you just walk around, and the surrounding environment is good. Free parking is available.

The location of the hotel is very good, next to the lively ”Little Italy” dining street, close to the attractions such as the aircraft carrier USS Midway and Victory Kiss and the light rail station. However, the sound of planes taking off and landing at the nearby airport is relatively loud, and the hotel facilities are relatively shabby. There is no coffee machine and it is not convenient to drink hot water.

The hotel is old and really need renovation. The air conditioner is rather noisy and I have to put my earbuds on when sleeping. Unluckily our two rooms only have a small window overhead in bathroom while other has a large windows the back. It made the room rather dark and the main switch for the light is out of order, we have to walk carefully across the bed to turn on the light which was placed between the two beds. The room condition was quite different from the pictures shown. The location is good and convenient but the cleanliness is far below standard. Somebody vomit in front of the parking lot gate that is the main entrance to our rooms’ building, it was not cleaned when 3 days was passed. As a budget hotel, we won’t expect much but the maintenance of facilities and the cleanliness must be up to standard. Sure we won’t come again.
