San Ignacio Resort Hotel

My wife and I started our stay with San Ignacio Resort Hotel as part of an EF Go Ahead Tours group. Thankfully we extended our stay for two more nights to experience more of the beautiful countryside and rich culture. The hotel was the perfect headquarters for our adventure. Location: It is within the town, yet you clearly have the sense of being in the jungle (except that you are respectfully being pampered - often behind the scenes.) From the hotel we visited Xunantanich, the San Ignacio Market, the San Antonio Women’s Cooperative to learn about making pottery and tortillas from a grinding stone over 500 years old, Tikal in Guatemala, and ATM Caves. After each day’s excursions we were greeted by the staff with a cool mint towel and welcomed home - for that is how we were treated. Grounds: Absolutely stunning! There is a quiet system of pathways that meander past labeled trees and an iguana sanctuary. Rooms: They are very clean and attractive. Ours had a garden view complete with a hammock. Restaurant: The food was very delicious and was picture-worthy at each meal. Our waiters and waitresses knew us by name by the time we had eaten our second meal. They even handled special requests for our early leave-times for excursions to Tikal and ATM Cave. Staff: All of the other categories were tremendous, but this is where San Ignacio Resorts truly excels. They simply are unbeatable. You will not find a more organized staff that focuses on your concerns. They relieved any fears we night have had about border crossings by providing us with a seamless transfer from one person to the next. There may be other hotels that are as good (I don’t know because I haven’t visited all of them) but you will definitely not find one that is better than San Ignacio Resort Hotel. They were simply the best for us!

I cannot say enough good things about this resort from the moment we arrived they gave us a lovely smelling cooling cloth to put on our necks after our excursion and so well they took care of all our luggage. The rooms were beautiful. The artwork in the hotel is absolutely stunning. It’s all done by local artist. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed, the food was delicious. The rooms were spacious. The pool was inviting. The staff was wonderful and could not ask for better staff. I never had to ask for anything twice. I would highly highly highly recommend the San Ignacio and I would also highly recommend the trip to Belize.

During the Christmas holiday, my family and I had a wonderful stay at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. The level of service we received during our time there was truly exceptional, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Resort grounds and layout The resort grounds were well-maintained and easy to navigate. The pool area was spacious and inviting, and there were plenty of walking trails along the river for us to explore. The front desk and lobby area were also very welcoming, providing a comfortable space for us to relax while waiting for our tours. Rooms and views We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite on the second floor with views overlooking the pool and grounds. One of the highlights of our stay was observing a large iguana lounging in a palm tree near the pool. We also had the pleasure of spotting various birds and even a kinkajou during our time at the resort. The suite itself was spacious and well-appointed, with a smaller bedroom and private bath, as well as a master suite (with private bath) with a sitting area and sofa bed. The large balcony area with lounge chairs and an outdoor jacuzzi tub was a perfect spot for unwinding after a day of exploring. Restaurant The Running W restaurant at the resort offered a diverse menu and excellent service. We enjoyed dining both indoors and outdoors, and the staff were always attentive and accommodating. Tours We took advantage of the tours offered by the hotel, including the Tikal day trip, cave tubing, Xunantunich half-day tour, and the onsite Green Iguana tour. Our tour guides and drivers were all knowledgeable and provided top-notch service, ensuring that we had a memorable and informative experience at each destination. Weather Despite a few cloudy and rainy moments, the weather did not dampen our spirits or hinder our activities during our stay. Butler Our butler, whose name was Elito, was a standout member of the hotel staff. He was always attentive and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. His exceptional service, especially in accommodating our dietary preferences, made our stay even more enjoyable. Tour Guides Our tour guide for the Tikal tour was ok and shared the relevant information about Mayans and the Tikal site but didn't really wow us. Carlitos was our tour guide for the cave tubing and Xunantunich tours and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He shared a lot of information about the sites we were visiting and was very friendly. I highly recommend him. Service This resort stands out for its exceptional service provided by all team members. The front desk staff consistently displayed friendliness and attentiveness. The drivers (Ramiro, Santos, Brainerd) and restaurant staff were also efficient, personable, and helpful. Truly top notch service all around! Conclusion Overall, our experience at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel was fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to fellow travelers

We loved the hotel location and the staff was so friendly. The food was very good and the birding from the dinning deck is spectacular given the fruit trees the grow in perfect view. The rooms were also very comfortable. I also found the waiters and staff to be knowledgeable with things to do in the area as well as names of the birds. I would definitely go back and stay at this hotel again!!!

An extremely comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. The restaurant was excellent with great cooked breakfasts and an excellent lunch and dinner menu. The pool area is very relaxing and well maintained with lots of shaded spaces available.

Great location in town, with an amazing restaurant that overlooks the grounds where you can see many birds and other critters while having dinner. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and Onil particularly went over and above to help us navigate a trip to Tikal. Santos guided a morning birding experience and was a delight. While lots to do in San Ignacio, the hotel itself is an experience to remember.
