Hotel Alpha

Brilliant hotel, staff best ever. Hotel was incredible in every area. An absolute gem, sensational holiday. Loved it.

We booked a twelve night half board stay at the 4 star hotel Alpha based upon previous reviews and recommendations for this small and friendly hotel. On a positive note, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The rooms inside the villa on the side of the hotel (room 311) was comfortable but missing a few basics such as tissues, bathroom soap holder and bathroom hooks for towels. The hotel location for accessing public transport e.g the train/ bus was very good. We paid extra for a superior room with a balcony and sea view, unfortunately we were unable to sit on the balcony as it overlooked a very busy road with constant traffic noise both day and night.The sea view was also very limited. The hotel gardens were very beautiful with comfortable outside seating however during our stay the hotel held 4 private functions in the gardens two of which were children’s parties which resulted in much disturbance until 11.30pm. The restaurant where we ate breakfast and dinner had a lovely outside patio and pergola area however, hotel guests were not allowed to use this area at either breakfast or dinner unless they were staying on the A la cart option?. The biggest disappointment and frustration was the quality and presentation of the food offered for guests staying on a half board basis. Breakfast was very limited with no Greek yogurt, no milk alternatives and unappetising fresh fruit options. The same breakfast was served for all of our 12 mornings which became very boring. The evening meal menu displayed daily, looked very appealing however, this was not the case when we sat down for dinner. For example, the limited vegetable choice was over cooked, restricted salad options (with flies), fish options bland and tasteless and meat overcooked. After 4 days of rejecting dinner options ordered, we opted to revert to a B and B tariff and ate outside the hotel. We felt that the food on offer was more akin to that offered at a 2/3 star hotel certainly not what we would expect from a 4 star establishment. We will not return to this hotel or neither recommend to friends or family.

Had an enjoyable stay in May 2025. It is close to the Train station and a Supermarket and is a pleasant 20/25 minute walk from Sorrento. The Hotel has very nice gardens and a small pool. Although very clean and a nice size, my room was on the Ground floor of the annex building which was disappointing as no views etc. The evening meal was served by waiters and was very very good, with each course having a choice of five selections. On Saturdays there is a five course Gala Dinner which although very nice was at least one course to many in my opinion. The staff were generally very nice and helpful, although there seemed to be at least one unnecessary heated exchange among the Restaurant staff every evening.

Just retuned from a weeks stay at Hotel Alpha and overall had a pleasant experience. Location good near train station and supermarket and 30 min walk to Sorrento. On arrival we found room we had been allocated was not ready and also was nothing like the photos on website and was in a totally separate building from main hotel which we not at all happy with. We raised this with reception and this was quickly resolved with us paying for an upgrade which fortunately we were in a position to do but we do feel this is very misleading on the website as these rooms and building weren’t what we booked through Jet2. Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Now to the food this varied from low standard to excellent during the week we were there. Selection was good but quality was low, mixed veg basically meant overcooked carrots although we did have cauliflower one night. Salad bar was extremely basic and presentation was poor . Fish was generally overcooked and overall look of good was poor. Also very disappointed pizza not available on half board basis or lunch time apart from as starter which was a whole pizza for two but you couldn’t have half for one person. Also hotel missed a trick in not offering pizza lunch time. Lunch time menu was varied and food better presented . However saying all that the Gaia night was exceptionally good food presented well and very tasty. Breakfast had good choice plenty of pastries cereal and fruit but hot food left a lot to be desired very repetitive lack lustre and limited choice. Tomatoes and mushrooms would have been a good offering as well as a choice of cooked eggs. Pool area small not sure about sunbed availability during summer season. Staff friendly and efficient some went above and beyond in particular Marco and Mario behind bars. There was a magnificent roof terrace which seemed to be an underused resource would be a great space for pre dinner drinks or a BBQ/live music etc. Hotel entertainment although not every night was high quality saxophone one night and guitar/volcalist another. We even got impromptu dance going in the bar one evening which was really enjoyable. Generally this is a quiet hotel in the evening. In summary we had a nice stay, met some great people and have fond memories of our holiday here but feel there’s room for improvement.
