Mave Nunnery used to be an exceptional and attractive place. Neither its location nor its surroundings were dazzling, but the building itself—an old disentailed monastery in ruins but rebuilt with taste and class—offered a unique atmosphere, a mix of historical flavor with modern comfort, good service, and excellent cuisine. Excellent. Today, however, it has become something very different. With the exception of some of its corners (the "library"), its corridors seem more like a vulgar nightclub than a historical lodging. The rooms have been changed for chaotic avant-garde designs without taking into account that creativity also has its rules and limits. They have forgotten about privacy and comfort, functional and comfortable bathrooms, that a room, especially if it is superior class, has to have a fridge, bedside tables instead of 20x25 boards (forget putting the charger, a book and a glass of water!!), nice lights that are not impossible to use, hangers, a proper shower and toilet (and not a cubicle that looks like a dump), a stool in the shower. The only really superior thing is the price of the suite. Attention is also deficient and unaware of their trade. The restaurant was pleasant but the kitchen was very basic. There are mosquitoes both in the restaurant and in the room. In short: it is more a place for mass weddings and feeling comfortable dancing the conga, than a comfortable and quiet venue in which to enjoy Gothic and Romanesque art. The area abounds with accommodations that have a historical flavor and architectural value but are also comfortable and well-managed. Better to pass, if one is not going to a boisterous and popular event.
