Hotel is old, needs renovation and for sure doesn’t pass expectations of 5*. Rooms are big with a comfortable beds. Even it is selected for adults only there are animations that should be prohibited in such places, since we paid to have a quiet vacation. Does not understand all good comments about the food; small variety, often lack of most of products (see cheese, ham, fruits during breakfast), bread is cheap, problem to find cups and glasses. However, the main problem is low temperature of the food, even scrambled eggs were cold. Next to the pool drinks are served in plastic (plastic cups in 5* hotel!!!!!). Pool towels are old; red ones are too small. WiFi is slow.

We spent our honeymoon at the Melia llana beach resort & spa hotel in mid-October 2023. The time for vacation was perfect, because it was warm enough (approx. +30 degrees) and there were only few tourists at the beginning of the season. The price of our trip included the Level vip service and it was definitely worth all the money. However, we did not upgrade the hotel room to level. We stayed in a pool access room which was a great choice. It was wonderful to be able to swim in the pool first thing in the morning and it was convenient to swim at night in your own pool. The room was huge. It included a bathroom with a shower and a separate toilet, a living room with a sofa, table, TV and storage, and a bedroom with a large bed, desk and TV. There was also a table, chairs and two sunbeds outside on the terrace by the pool. In our opinion, the room was clean and in good condition. The internet connection worked almost flawlessly the entire trip. If the hotel had an evening show, there was some noise in the room, but it didn't last long and didn't disturb much. After reading these reviews, we were a little worried especially about the food, but our worries turned out to be pointless. The food was really good and the selection very rich. We had breakfast a few times at Casa Nostra, which was part of the level vip service. The breakfast was more à la carte style and you could only took a few things yourself from the small buffet. Each time the service was quite slow, even though there were not many customers. Some of the portions were really big and at first we ordered too much food because we didn't know how huge the size of the portions was. After a few times, we concluded that the buffet at the Mosaico restaurant, which belongs to all customers, is a better option for us for breakfast. There we could take the food ourselves and this also affected how long it took for breakfast and how much food we put on the plate. There was a huge selection, everyone will surely find something to eat there. From the a'la carte restaurants included in the price of the Level vip service, we tried Casa Nostra. However, we concluded that the selection of the Mosaico buffet was our preferred option in this case as well. The buffet had a different theme every night, e.g. Italian, Cape Verde night and Mexican. On the barbeque evening, the chef prepared delicious meats on a large grill on the terrace area of the restaurant. There was a lot of food and it was really good. I wonder if someone can't find something to eat from such a wide selection of foods. We also went to the Bikini Beach Club (on the beach) for Sunday brunch. It was included in the price of the level vip service. Brunch was really good. We chose two of the set menu options and the portions were huge. The food at the Pura Vida snack bar was also good. We also went to Asian bistro Nami's Tappanyaki dinner. It was a great experience. The dinner cost about 49 euros per person, drinks had to be bought sepa

My husband and I stayed at the Melia Llana from December 10th - 17th, we were apprehensive due to reviews, however as seasoned travellers we are aware that everyone has their own personal preferences and expectations, so we arrived with open minds and a want to have the best time. We weren't disappointed! We did upgrade to the VIP package as we're nosey and get fomo whilst on holiday and for us it was worth it. We had a jacuzzi oceanfront room, which had a stunning view of the beach and sunset. Serviced everyday if you wanted it to be, you leave the sign on the door which is standard practice. We used The Level pool & lounge and walked to the sea for a dip and back to our loungers within minutes, perfect for sea lovers. We ate at the a la carte restaurants across Melia Llana, Tui Blue and Melia Dunas all beautiful food. We also had an allowance of €100 per day per couple to use at Bikini Beach Club and all inclusive at Bar Marley. The food at Bikini Beach club was amazing, lovely atmosphere too. Bar Marley was lively and had a proper holiday vibe to it. The wine at Melia Llana was nice, the rose was a blush and the merlot was nice too, sometimes AI house wines are not good, but not this time, lovely. The team who worked at The Level pool were an asset to the hotel, friendly, hospitable and extremely hard working and always remembered a bellini and a beer at 12pm!! This was our first time in Cape Verde and it absolutely stole our hearts we will definitely return and return to Melia Llana. Thankyou for a beautiful escape. Emma & Richard Randall

We went to MELIÁ LLANA in Sal for one week over Christmas in December 2024. I booked direct which I would definitely suggest. This allows you to book the room you want. We went for a 'Level Swim Up room' which was perfect. The hotel is a little confusing. There is a standard all inclusive which includes a basic room and all inclusive use of the buffet restaurant and pool bars. You can the upgrade to The Level which include nicer rooms, a separate 'Level only' bar and pool with snacks throughout the day and a seperate more a la carte style breakfast. You can then upgrade again to the VIP stay which we did. This was an extra 50 euros per person per night and included use of restaurants at other hotels and bars at other hotels, all included in the price. You also received 50 euros credit per person per day at Bikini beach bar. The room was nice and comfortable. The cleaners were great and our mini bar topped up daily. The swim up room was amazing- we didn't;t use the other pools. Service is very slow but I think maybe just the Cape Verde way. The 'pool bars' are essentially just stools in the water- you have to get out of the pool to actually get served. Gym was nice, toilets always clean and it never felt over-crowded anywhere. I think the level/ VIP etc is quite confusing and lots of people were annoyed they had paid for 'all inclusive' when actually you had to upgrade to make use of it all. We did have some issues with some of the VIP affiliated bars and restaurants but the ones in the actual hotel were great. Casa Nostra pizza was amazing in the hotel!! This hotel has won a Tui award for looking after stray animals. There are five stray cats at the hotel which have been neutered/ flea treated and are fed. This was so nice to see and we loved playing with them. Our neighbours were very unimpressed at the presence of the cats- my view is if you don't like animals, don't come!

Our first time in Ssl and Cape verde snd we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived from the staff at the door and the reception staff were all extremely efficient, friendly and very welcoming. There was a slight mix up with our swim up room not being available on our first day so we were offered a junior suite and a complimentary tasting menu at the Asian restaurant by way of making up. This was corrected effortlessly the next day. For the whole week I could not fault the service of the extremely professional and friendly staff in all areas from housekeeping. Bar and restaurant staff, porters and reception. The buffet restaurant was good not always something that I liked on offer but that was more my issue than the hotels. We did the shark bay tour , the day tour of sal with our guide Ramiro (he was great) and the catamaran trip with Alina and the crew. ( again they were all fantastic and very entertaining) . All were great fun especially the island tour and the catamaran, I would recommend both. One final tip it can get windy in the evening if you are sat outside so bring something loose to cover your arms or loose long trousers. If you feel the cold in a draught. Typical British I know . Joking aside a wonderful break for a week in a fantastic resort and would highly recommend if you just want to chill out with No Stress. Tom and Sheena, Solihull,

This hotel is NOT 5 stars! More like 3 Stars. Upon check-in my room smelled like mold. The Wifi was crap. My shower was clogged and after 3 requests, it was never repaired. I slipped and fell from the flooded bathroom floor. :( And it’s all-inclusive? Try making a reservation for dinner. The food was so-so. Also, it is a ways from Santa Maria. Not worth the money.

We just returned from 7 nights at the Melia llana and we were not disappointed . We were apprehensive after reading a few negative reviews but went with an open mind and am glad we did. Upon arrival our room wasn't quite ready but we settled with a drink and a walk around and after 30 minutes we were shown our room. We had the deluxe double room with a terrace which I requested as I like to be on the ground floor. The rooms have a low privacy hedge outside and overlooked the hotel and had a side view of the pool. The room itself was immaculate and huge, with sofa and chairs, double sink in the bathroom and a massive shower. Air con was really quiet and lovely and cool. We spent our time by the 2 pools but the beach was beautiful and the Bob Marley bar was fun to visit and is right outside the hotel on the beach side. The food was amazing! Not a single fly in sight in the main buffet restaurant (which is rare in my experience at all inclusive resorts) and the head chef was often present making sure everything was as it should be. Meat was cooked freshly for you if you wanted and the seafood was do fresh. Variety each day was faultless. The staff at this hotel are it's greatest asset by far. They can not do enough for you, especially Carla! Our stay here was perfect and we're so glad we chose the Melia Llana. Thank you for making our 10th wedding anniversary so memorable.

We are here now (second last day) and to be honest I cannot wait to get home. This is not a 5* experience, I am struggling to give it a 3*. On arrival room wasn’t ready then after an hour shown to our room. On entering a very strong odour of dampness greeted us. We asked to be moved which we did however, it was no better!! The doorstep was cracked and crumbling , could be dangerous for those with poor vision or mobility. The room was dark & depressing, no light came in, opening the patio doors to see a hedge and road. The table & chairs were filthy, surrounding tiles were full of stains and bird droppings. We met with the Tui rep the following day explaining the issue, she asked for us to be moved but told no. We even asked to be upgraded but again no. As we tried to settle in issues with the room were rising ;Very poor lighting ,Leak under sink ,Toilet not flushing. Ironing in the dark was not the best I either burned clothing or just went out in the evening with creased clothing, this made me feel uncomfortable. Reached out to the rep on many occasions through the app or in person but it was becoming clear I was being avoided. Onto the food , it is ONE restaurant not 4 as was informed when booking. Food is served buffet style & the quality was truly awful , I struggled to eat anything therefore Bread and butter was my go to and deserts most were nice. Now onto the staff I can truly say each and every one of them greet you with a smile and cannot do enough for you. Very friendly and welcoming one in particular Riccardo, you will find him at the entrance of hotel & he is a credit to the hotel. Hotel itself is dated and in need of a refreshment, in particular the rooms at the back where no light is getting in. Our rooms location and conditions were unacceptable and definitely not a 5*, as I said at the beginning I am struggling to even give it 3*. The weather , the staff , and location were the highlight for us. We definitely won’t be back & I wouldn’t recommend it. Tui you really need to think about selling this as a 5* , communication from your reps would also help customers.
