Property Description
Strategically located next to a typical Mayan community, Hacienda Santa Rosa welcomes guests to share in their culture and traditions. Surrounded by charms such as the Celestún Biosphere Reserve, Calcehtok Caves, and Oxkintok. In 1998, the Hacienda was restored and transformed into a hotel with the vision of providing a full immersion into the historical and biocultural richness of the Mayan world. After a meticulous restoration process, the original architectural features were preserved; ancient Mayan construction techniques and materials were reclaimed. Adapting spaces for hotel functions, the splendor of the past was preserved, respecting existing proportions. Upon arrival, you'll notice the celestial blue of the Main House, where the atmosphere of the sisal haciendas has endured. In the Main House, you'll find the exclusive Taller Maya boutique, featuring creations designed especially for our guests, connecting Mayan wisdom with contemporary design and supporting fair trade. The spa, also located in the Main House, our spa therapists possess ancient Mayan knowledge called "sobada," with the ability to heal through their hands. This unique technique not only offers guests a healing process but also immerses them in a magical experience. Here, the rest of the spirit merges with the millennia-old tradition of the Maya, creating an environment where well-being intertwines with ancestral heritage.

Stayed for one night at Hacienda Santa Rosa as part of a four month tour of central America. t is an oasis of tranquility in the Yucatan province south west of the city of Merida. Easily accessible given that it is within 15km by car/taxi of Estacion Tren Maya Maxcanu. From the welcome upon arrival to the goodbye upon leaving the entire 24 hours spent at the Hacienda will remain memorable. The staff were excellent, there to assist but never imposing; the rooms were excellent and they provide a real sense of how life was for the wealthy owners of the estate during the colonical years; and the facilities were excellent from the well maintained gardens to way in which the staff retained the connection with the past. During the day you can walk the gardens or relax by the pool. It is luxury without the fanfare. I highly recommend a visit even if only for one night to experience the slow pace of the old colonial world.

This is an amazing place with a very special and relazed atmosphere. The staff is the most friendly staff and best food we have experienced for our entré five weeks of travel. The hacienda offers different achtivities, which We unfortunately didn't have time to explore because We arrived late and only had planned for two days. One idea for improvement could be if the achtivities was listed on a board at the reception. We had two boys with us, which the staff was very attentive to.

This place is a jewel. I'm never sure why there aren't more guests but having the staff working almost for yourself alone is part of the charm. My pro tip is that the main swimming pool is too cold in winter, but if you ask where the other pool is (hidden behind the super cool hidden smoke stack) there's another behind four of the rooms that they'll let you use and the water is much warmer there.

Beautiful Hacienda restored from an original factory back in the days. We were given an introductory tour of the premises which was great. The place is truly something unique! Great food as well and spacious, clean rooms. Calm and quite atmosphere is exatly what we needed after some busy travel days in Mexico.

This is the third Hacienda we've stayed at and for a variety of reasons our least favorite and one which we cannot recommend. The setting and physical property is nice and similar to the other properties. If you're expecting luxury at any of these properties you will be disappointed. If, however, you're expectations are of rustic accommodations with lots of character and friendly if unpolished service you may be happy. One thing which dampened our experience specifically at Santa Rosa was the lack of information on room types and layouts: we booked a Maya Villa with two bedrooms which is really a triple bedroom with no sitting area and a sub-par bathroom. Really only bookable if you have small children and need 3 beds in the same room. Also room looks nothing like the picture on the Marriott website which shows a Mayan Casita with a swinging bed. We booked another room so we'd be more comfortable. Alao, please note that as a family group we had 6 rooms, and the Mayan Villa was the only disappointing one in terms of amenities and layout. Hopefully thisll help someone trying to book in the future. The real reason we will never return and cannot recommend is because one of the nights they made us sleep in a room next to a party. Apparently they know they're neighbor likes to play loud music into the next day (4:30am) and we were not able to sleep at all. Staff seemed disinterested. Would not come back . If you decide to come, bring earplugs for all rooms and stay away from room 4.

1st impressions: the view of the main house upon arrival is spectacular. Service from staff is very good. This place is good to relax for a day or 2. I think there might be some excursions to do off property, but I'm not sure. I was only there for a night. Stay here for the experience.

Definitely a treasure. Carlos was great the first night helpings us with our reservation.. the staff at dinner was extremely attentive to every detail and we were recommended a great Mezcal. Thanks also to Israel for helping us with a late check out, Mariano with Breakfast by the pool and Hector for a wonderful Tour. We were sorry not to have time for a massage with Fatima but thanks so much again for a wonderful time!!

This tastefully renovated Hacienda is on my list of favourite hotels after our recent stay. It is remote which encouraged us to explore a less touristy area of the Yucatán. Our room was huge and extremely comfortable with the best bed ever and top quality bed linen and towels. I loved the original features which were well maintained and really added to the atmosphere. The rooms were impeccably clean with fly screens on all windows so we had no insects in our room. There were insects outside, as you would expect in the jungle, but far fewer than at our inner city Australian residence. I thoroughly enjoyed my late afternoon swim in the unique pool and could imagine languishing in the shaded area during the midday heat if we weren’t too busy exploring. The food and beverages were delicious and the service was friendly and faultless.
