Residencial Metro Republica

Freezing in a hotel room. Personally, I will never stay here again! I stayed at the Residencial Metro Republica, during the first month of winter and it was a cold week. Having said that, it was SOOO cold in the room (You are rationed “Heat” from 7pm to 11 pm). If you wake up early or need to go to the bathroom, your room will be frigid. The heat you are given during the permitted hours is weak. You have to huddle beneath the covers in the morning and evening hours. I ended up sleeping in my down jacket just to keep my arms warm. My hands were freezing and needed to be kept below blankets while sleeping. Other considerations are: Many hotels have a water warmer for coffee or tea in the rooms, they did not. It would have been nice so I could have made warm coffee, at least. There was a weak Internet signal in my room- I could not watch videos. The hotel is in an old building, but is in a good location near “El Centro”. It is a short walk to the metro or subway, The shower had warm water, but the sink only had cold water. Showering was warm enough, but as soon as it ended, you were standing in a bathroom full of frigid air. They have signs on the wall telling you to take short showers because “Cuidemos el agua”. I think they use the excuse that they have gone “green”, but it is just insanity! There is not a sign on the building, so it is a little hard to find. The place does seem secure as they keep the front door locked and you must be buzzed in. Buyer beware!
