Villa Markezinis

Stayed here again, late august. As ever the hotel is superbly run and impeccably clean. The rooms are basic but very functional, with a full size fridge (although quite full with "bar" drinks. But there's enough room in there for your own stuff etc. A hair dryer is also provided as are towels for the pool. The pool is usually quite empty and their are always plenty of sun loungers to use through out the day if that's your thing. The beach is literally five minutes away, with perissa to the left and perivolos to the right. The beach features black sand that gets very very hot so make sure you wear footwear. The hotel does serve a breakfast that is very good quality although its a fairly limited choice and we only had this one day. We did opt of the arranged trasfer from the (still awful) airport, but due to mix up with the transfer firm we were kept waiting at the airport for 40 minutes, but this isnt really a fault of the hotel as such. its worth pointing out that the hotel is surrounded by normal "life" and thus you have construction work and numerous barking dogs around the hotel that can be a bit annoying, but you kinda get use to it. Overall, Markezinis is a great hotel to base yourself to explore the area, and its worth mentioning that George on the front desk is very helpful and nothing is too much hassle.
