Our family of 4 stayed in the Cave suite. The suite is gorgeous, quite spacious with 2 bed rooms, 2 bath rooms, kitchen, indoor jacuzzi and plenty of closet space. Contemporary, chic interiors. The sea captains house is at the heart of Oia, with people lining up for photos outside your window all day long. However, once you walk through that door, it’s nice and quiet. Late at night and early morning when it’s quiet, it is just magical. The famous blue domes are right next to the property which means you are fighting with lines of people to get to your suite when cruise ships are in port. Breakfast is an extensive spread with post card perfect views including fashion shoots. I sat over the wall and watched sunrise over the blue church dome every morning - one of those magical moments and a passerby even asked to take my photo. My son and I would sit over the same wall (it’s wide and spacious, typical Oia style) and watch stars and caldera in the night. We have a great lounge/balcony with comfortable couch and table with the same views but somehow the wall was our favorite spot 😀. Manager Takis checked on us every day and helped us plan the perfect trip. All his restaurant recommendations were great, and he booked us on a small group sunset catamaran sailing which was fantastic. The market square is nearby and porter comes to the taxi to help with the luggage for arrival and departure as the hotel is in the pedestrian zone. Overall great stay. We stayed in Imerovigli during our previous visit and it was super quiet. Wanted something different this time around and knew to expect crowds when we chose Oia. Tips: We went to the old castle to view sunset one day with people packed like sardines. Had much better experience walking to the right from there another day (Takis’s advice) and had a beautiful view with windmills and was much quieter. @wanderlustvani on instagram for more photos

A cozy Inn like feel right in the bustle of the beautiful cliffs of Oia. A postcard view right from your window! We were met at a drop off point by Dimitra who helps run the place and their porter, who amazingly carried and pulled several heavy bags through winding streets, alleys and steps. It was quite impressive! After a short walk you get to the Sea Captain’s House with a view that takes your breath away! I was traveling with my brother and sister-in-law, we stayed in the Captain’s suite that has an upstairs loft. The spiral steps up and low ceilings in the loft are not for the very tall but easy to navigate with caution. Takis, the owner, was very helpful, friendly, and informative! He gave us suggestions of things to do, places to go and where to eat. Both he and Dimitra were the best hosts! The suite has a front deck area that overlooks one of the most photographed spots in Oia, it’s a constant parade of folk including brides doing photo sessions. They seem to be oblivious to us sitting there peeking at them over the wall, it’s quite good people watching! The made to order private breakfast was phenomenal! Fresh fruits, pastries, breads and made to order eggs daily. I can only imagine how busy it is during peak season. The tourist parade slowed down at night and early morning, so was nice and quiet for a good night’s rest! I highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed!

This was our "splurge" hotel after our Rick Steve's Greece tour. It's one of the oldest houses on Santorini, loving restored and furnished. We stayed in the Venetian Suite, which I thought had the best balcony. You're right on the beautiful caldera side of Oia, and it was a treat just to sit outside. There is a constant parade of photo takers at all hours, but it really did not disturb us. Breakfast was served on our balcony, many options, all fresh and tasty with eggs made to order. Our host Takis was friendly and helpful, making taxi/porter arrangements for us, recommending places to eat, etc. His experience in the hotel industry showed in this little gem. Be prepared for hordes of cruise ship tourists as you walk around, though. There were times we just came back to the room to sit and enjoy the view.

My husband and I had a perfect stay. The location was excellent in the heart of Oia while still being private and quiet. The views from the patio were lovely. The room was very comfortable and we slept very well. The breakfast was plentiful. The service was amazing. We had to leave early one morning and a lovely breakfast was arranged in advance on short notice. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The Sea Captain's House is located in the heart of the Caldera in Oia. We were thoroughly blown away by the view. Just over the balcony we constantly saw people lining up to take pictures right in front of the villa (though they couldn't see us unless they looked up). It's that amazing. Takis mentioned that our view is one of the most private balconies in the Caldera. Sea Captain's is also located at the bottom of the "U", so you get amazing photos of both sides of the Calldera, along with amazing pics of the Aegean sea. We stayed in the Sailing Suite. The room has a classical look and was very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good as well. Takis and his staff were also amazing and very helpful with suggestions on things to do. He made sure our 3 days in Santorini were packed with fun activities. You can tell that he and staff take good care of his guests.

I loved everything about this beautiful boutique property overlooking the caldera in Oia, Santorini. Our room, the Venetian Suite, was beautifully decorated and had all the charm that one would expect in a village like Oia. The Sea Captain's House was only about a block off of the main pedestrian street in (and thankfully for us only a few steps down). It was easily accessible to all things that the village had to offer, yet perfectly quiet at night. Plus, the view over the caldera from our private balcony was amazing. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious-no need to eat lunch after such a great breakfast. Best of all, though, were our hosts, Takis and Demetria. They helped with everything from getting a car and driver on the island to suggesting the best restaurants. I felt so comfortable in their hands. They are friendly, accessible, and willing to help in every way. Choose the 1864 Sea Captain's House in Oia, Santorini. You won't be disappointed!

My friend and I just spent an incredible week at the Sea Captain's House. We stayed in the lovely Venetian Room which included access to the terrace balcony where we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast with awesome views of the Caldera and the town. Our hosts, Demitria and Tarkis were very warm and hospitable, and were extremely helpful in familiarizing us with Oia and its restaurants and sights. The hotel is ideally located near the town's center with easy access to the main pedestrian street with its shops and restaurants. I highly recommend it and would select it again if I have the opportunity to return.
