Santonero - the Philoxenia Project

What a wonderful experience! We went on our first proper holiday/honeymoon and wanted it to feel relaxing and luxurious. This place nailed it. The views are incredible, the room is spacious, comfortable and the air con is a good send. The private pool is slightly heated and lovely to lounge around in for hours admiring the view and relaxing. By the way, this place definitely has the best views and looks like the nicest place to stay, at least in this area. The staff were so friendly and nice helping us with advice, questions and even carried our luggage to and from the car without asking (which I was so so grateful for!). Each day we had a feast of a breakfast which was delicious. It filled us up enough that we didn't really need to eat again till dinner time. You select the day before what you want to have for breakfast with a good choice of 2 drinks each, core sharing selection and breakfast plate each. Most of the time we were left to ourselves with people coming in once a day for cleaning etc, which is how we like it. They have a handy WhatsApp service to request things or you can ask at the desk. Parking can be a bit difficult as you need to park at the top of the hill and it can get full sometimes but there are places to park down the street too. I'd highly recommend hiring a car just as the busses can be a long walk and taxis need to be booked in advance plus, you'll get to see more of the island that way. If you have mobility issues you might struggle here as it is on the hillside and the steps can be steepish but with no handrail etc. Took me a couple days to get used to it with my fear of heights but it was worth it! I imagine a lot of Santorini would be quite difficult with mobility issues though. If you contact them in advance they can book you experiences, taxis, airport transfers etc. THE BED!!! Oh the bed was so big and so comfy! Lots of things were within reach of the bed, including the air con, and there was a reasonably sized TV that we could connect our phones and accounts to watch stuff (just remember to log off!) WiFi was fine and didn't seem to have any issues with it. Basically, do it. It can seem a bit pricey at times but it's one of the best things we have ever done and well worth it. Hoping to return again in coming years!

We started our stay in Santorini with a three night stay at the Santonero. What a stunning pocket of Santorini, near the town of Akrotiri - the views of the Caldera, volcano, Thira and over to Oia were spectacular, not forgetting the amazing sunsets! The staff were fabulous. So professional & so friendly and always available to assist. You can WhatsApp the team for drinks and food orders, together with restaurant reservations. We stayed in the two bedroom villa - it was amazing. The accommodation was across two floors and two levels of terraces with seating on each - with a fantastic sized private pool on one level and a hot tub on the lower level. It was perfect for my husband and I, together with our 14 year old daughter. Breakfast (chosen the evening before) is delivered to your terrace at a time to suit you. The menu offers a great choice and the food is plentiful! You can order drinks to be delivered to your villa too and I believe dinner - but we ventured out for dinner each evening. Akrotiri is a quiet little village. There’s a few restaurants and a mini market, but other than that, there’s not a lot going on. So it’s perfect for a 3/4 night stay if you’re looking for a quiet get away. The team confirmed that they’re opening a restaurant/bar soon, which I think would be a welcome addition to the property. All in all, a fabulous stay. We would not hesitate to return again!

My stay was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and the caldera. The room was elegant and impeccably clean, with that charming Cycladic architecture you dream of when you think of Santorini. Waking up each morning to the peaceful sight of the sea and the volcanic islands was surreal. Last but not least, great dinner options combined with signature cocktails. We will be back. This was our first few days of our honeymoon and it was a truly memorable experience, the views from the bedroom are out of this world!! The breakfast was very tasty the staff all super helpful. Highly recommend this hotel, we loved staying in the quieter side of the island it made the experience more magical. Thank you very much :)

This hotel is simply amazing from start to finish. The staff were so helpful and katerina the manager was amazing and helped me decorate our room as a surprise for my new wife. The apartment is huge and is literally two hotel rooms rolled into one. The private pool and private jacuzzi is an amazing touch and it over looks the caldera and volcano. Literally on the edge of the cliff. Stunning views all the time. Would not change one thing about the hotel and I have high standards with hotels. Thank you for making our wedding trip amazing. My husband and I stayed for a part of our honeymoon and it was beautiful. The rooms, pool, view and hospitality were perfect. It’s modern and on a quieter side of the island with a charming town close by. The place was beautiful but the hospitality was outstanding. A big thank you to John who made our stay exceptional. The breakfast served overlooking the view is a standout from everything else. Thanks again team!
