We stayed at the villas. The space was very relaxing and comfortable. The staff was so kind and very helpful. Breakfast on the patio was a favorite for me. I highly recommend the villas or the hotel. We spent 1 day at the hotel. Just as beautiful and friendly!

Stress free vacation! My daughter and I enjoyed a fabulous restful week prior to our 2 family members arrival for the second week. The hotel is spotless, rooms renovated, pool clean, and a decent breakfast. All our needs were fulfilled by Kostas through his travel agency in the hotel. He arranged car rental, catamaran trip and maps to sites. Highly recommend this family ran hotel!

We booked a last minute holiday for relaxation and couldn't have picked better. Located in a small village with a handful of tavernas it certainly was a very relaxing place. Some might find it a little too quiet but it fitted our needs perfectly. The hotel room and facilities were perfect and the recent upgrades were a bonus. Special mention to the gardener who keeps the plants looking stunning. There are differences in the rooms and the cost for each type, but it's clearly stated on the hotel Web site. Don't book a standard room and expect a suite. The staff were all lovely. Yes they don't fawn all over the guests and engage in inane conversation but are always helpful and friendly when approached. I think it's more discreet than stand offish! Previous reviews have mentioned issues with pushing trips and car hire etc. The owner is a travel agent. Yes you will be given information about trips and car hire but it's down to you. You have a choice of convenience or shop around. We hired a car for a couple of days from a local agency just for ease of getting around the main tourist areas but the local transport is spot on and reliable. There is a local beach. It does mean a very steep walk down and (in my case) many stops walking back up to admire the view. A scramble over a few rocks gets you to a fabulous quiet beach with perfect views of the whole island. Wow. Would I stay again? Yes, if I was coming back to the area. Thanks to everybody x

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the wonderful owner Kostas, we had the most amazing holiday. We stayed in the upgraded honeymoon suite which was fabulous. Hotel Mathios is perfect for a relaxing holiday. The pool is beautiful. Just the right temperature and size. The hotel is immaculate with beautiful flowers everywhere. His lovely staff keep it spotlessly clean. The poolside restaurant serves very tasty nicely cooked traditional Greek cuisine and refreshingly chilled drinks including local wines. There is a fine beach with crystal seas 10 minutes walk away with a bit of a steep walk back. Akrotiri town is just 5 mins stroll and has some nice tavernas our favorite was the cafe at the castle on top of the hill. Kostas organised a boat trip for us which was a stunning day out on a catamaran with a fantastic meal which ended with the most amazing sunset. Kostas can organise you a car or the bus service is good if you like. It really was the most memorable perfect week in on a Greek island for us and would love to return one day to Santorini and Hotel Mathios. Thankyou Kostas and all the staff at Hotel Mathios for making it so special. Paul and Sarah from Somerset UK.

What a beautiful hotel. What amazing and friendly people are working here. This hotel impacted our whole holiday experience in the best way possible. Amazing manager who was able to facilitate all our needs and provide us with ways to truly enjoy our holiday. The food here was excellent! The rooms and the hotel are clean and beautiful! And the staff are impeccable. Always working with excellence. Honestly recommend and will like to very much come back. This hotel is also close to many places if you rent a car you will be able to enjoy many places in the island. Because of this hotel we are able to enjoy so much of this holiday, truly blessed and thankful for Mathios Village Hotel!

What a lovely hotel. We were so impressed with Kostas, the hotel manager, he could not have been more friendly, jovial and willing to help. He recognised us again after meeting him for the first time, and waved each morning as we were having breakfast! Lovely. He invited us into the travel agency room when we first met him, and gave us a suggested list of things to do and places to visit whilst there, breaking the week down, and advising us of the busiest times, and therefore when to try to aim to arrive - and leave, obviously the boats arrive at certain times, and that suddently makes the island very busy. It was good to know the best times to be at certain places. He arranged a 2 day car hire for us which was a swift process, and made our week a lot easier. Kostas recommended we plan to visit the Lighthouse to watch the sun set. This was a beautiful experience. The pool is lovely at the hotel, was busy enough while we were there, but not absolutely 'bustling' as you find in many other hotels. Our room was cleaned daily, towels replaced etc. The air con in the rooms is very welcome after a long day around the pool, or out visiting in the high temperatures. We had various friendly cats and their kittens come to visit our balcony most days, which was certainly a highlight! Loved to see them, it helped to make our week! The pool restaurant was lovely, gorgeous meals, and we were often offered an after meal mini sweet treat, which was great to sample. Very pleasant pool restaurant staff. I think one of the things which stood out to me, (to all of us), was the standard of cleanliness. Could not fault this hotel, pristine, and that is something which I love. Overall, a wonderful week away with friends in a very comfortable, pleasant and friendly hotel. Would definitely recommend to others, and would be more than happy to visit again. Thank you Kostas, Hotel Mathios Village, and staff. Caroline.

The hotel is typically Greek. We stayed in the duplex which had a double bed on the first floor and a sofa ground floor. It was lovely they did a thorough c,Dan every day and the whole area was well kept. The resort itself is quiet but a regular bus stops outside and fir 2 euro you can get into Fira and then from there anywhere else on the island. A couple of rips. 1. if you want lively this is not the resort for you. There is around 6/restaurants and bar. 2. Taxis are expensive so use buses. 3. The duplex is no good if you are tall as it has a domed roof. 4. Go on the sunset tour rather than the day. 5. The hotel offer airport transfer which is cheaper than taxin

Kostas and his staff took great care of us during our stay! Whether it was a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, a snack or a meal - we just had to ask! Kostas arranged transportation if/when it was needed. I felt as though I was in a hidden oasis and wished that I could’ve stayed longer - maybe next time! Thank you!
