Sao Tome Island Hotels with Gym

I have stayed at Pestana during visits for many years. It is definitely one of the best hotels on Sao Tome island. The staff is professional, friendly, and attentive. Many people on staff speak English, which is very helpful if you don't speak Portuguese. From management, to reception, to restaurant/bar service, to cleaning staff, to bell hops, everyone at Pestana makes you feel very welcome. Do be aware only Visa cards and cash are acceptable payments. The breakfast is quite good. A variety of fresh local fruits is always available (my favorites are mango, jack fruit, and passion fruit). Eggs are made to order. There are a variety of breads and pastries as well. Dinner varies by the day, sometimes a buffet, sometimes a set menu. Friday night is barbecue night, which should not be missed. As much grilled beef, chicken, pork, and fish as you like, with sides and a table of desserts. There is a local musician who plays and sings. There is also a show at dinner where dancers dress in traditional attire and perform dances. The pool is always clean, and there are many lounge chairs and umbrellas to use. While lounging, there is bar service available. Rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. The bed in my standard room was actually two twin beds made together as one, which is fine for me. There is a little balcony with chairs to sit at. Showers are hot with good water pressure. There was a minifridge and TV. If you enjoy coffee or tea in your hotel room, I suggest bringing a travel kettle with you. As usual, I enjoyed my stay at Pestana and will certainly visit again.
