I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. The view is superb. However, other things are not. The elevator is so tiny that only 1 person with luggage can fit. There is no light in the elevator so it is in complete blackness. The rooms have the lowest level of lighting possible. There is NO light sufficient for working at the desk at night. There is no place in the shower to place the shampoo or soap--so, you place it on the floor. The breakfast is fine.

Very good and cozy hotel near the Atlantic ocean. The room was small but good, it was missing a fridge though. The food was very delicious. Staff was kind and helpful. The location of the hotel is in a comfortable place, there is a bus stop nearby, but the best way to travel around Madeira is to rent a car from the hotel.

Amazing stay 15 August until 25 What an amazing hotel the sweeping seaview ,amazing circular pool, friendly and helpful staff.one of our suitcases did not arrive and the staff on reception were sympathetic and kept us informed they should get a medal We cannot remember her name but she helped us with the lost luggage and changing rooms on the 15 August - we want to give her lots of praise for being a great help throughout the stay. The buffet dinner was amazing and reasonable priced, clean rooms with air con. The club Sandwich be warned at lunch is enormous great to much for one person, while sipping a cool drink looking out over the ocean -was it a dream! Breakfast buffet wow think Hawaii and thunderbird Tracy island and that is the view while tucking into your breakfast If you want to really get away and chill, feel safe and relax with good food and a welcoming and attentive staff ,this is the place. We only stayed here 1 night and that was okay. The hotel was okay but nothing more than that. Clean. Great location next to the ocean. Fantastic view. We went to the little pizzeria 300 m from the hotel to dine cause the buffet on the hotel was not our taste. The hotel is okay for 1 night but we were glad that us was just that. Maybe the feeling would be better in the summertime.

Vegetarians be advised you should inspect the advertised “Vegetarian Dish” before deciding whether or not to go to the dinner buffet. Staff were gracious and kind and put it right, but the food standard should have been better in the first place, and surely they must have known this. One simply shouldn’t have to ask, but the chef will make other vegetarian options if asked. They had no business serving a cold over-boiled bag of frozen vegetables and calling it a main course on the menu next to the reception area. Fortunately, the creamy vegetable soup was delicious and the desserts were outstanding. Staff were apologetic and kind, but I feel like if no one says anything, then many guests will continue to put up with this as a side dish and the kitchen will think that what they are providing is acceptable. I think it’s only fair to mention in their favour, that I noticed at breakfast that there was a small but separate Gluten Free area. The mainstream breakfast was good and had a lot of variety, including whole pieces of fruit. The receptionists were delightful and friendly. There seemed to always be someone on duty, and they were approachable. There was good communication—the receptionist in the morning already knew about our meal the night before. The room was clean and exactly as expected with a lovely view and balcony. I wish the beds had been made up as a double, as requested, rather than two side by side twins. Maybe it’s a Madeira thing, as this isn’t the only place this happened. My bed was comfy and I got a good night’s sleep accompanied by the sound of the waves.

This is a lovely hotel in a nice peaceful setting right by the sea. Whatever room you have there is a sea view and it is amazing. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful especially Lydia and Thiago in the restaurant. We stayed bed and breakfast but we did have a few evening meals which we paid for and were very nice. It is a buffet but everything was nicely presented. There is not a lot of night life here but that suited us fine but we did frequent a bar called Porto de Abrigo most nights which actually sold Alt beer which is a bitter and not a lager. You can also taste local Madeira wines for free if you want to. It is run by Raphael and Carlos who were very nice and friendly. We did go to Funchal for the day and went on the cable car ride and the toboggan ride and that was fun. This hotel is very quiet and probably would not suit you if you have children as there is not a lot for them to do. The only disappointment for us was that the Jacuzzi was not working during our two week stay which is one of the reasons why I booked this hotel. The Receptionist said they are waiting for a part. Also there is no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. However the room was nice and clean and has good air conditioning. I cannot fault this hotel it is lovely and I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it!

Top location and the view of the sea is just amazing... Fantastic. The condition of the hotel is very worn out. Whether it's doors that don't close properly, leaky windows in the restaurant area, peeling plaster, worn armchairs/sofas or tripping hazards. The hotel is being renovated, the pool area and the rooms are also being renovated. Our room was functional. Hygiene should be worked on, especially in the bathroom and floor. We had the feeling that they had only swept and not mopped. The shower, on the other hand, was very modern in design but nothing more. The bathroom always had a smell from the drain. We had half board + breakfast was enough for us with various rolls, cheese, fruit, eggs, coffee, tea, juice, cereal, jams, hearty hot meals. In the evening there was always soup, fish, meat, vegetarian and vegetable side dishes as well as various salads and changing dessert/ice cream. In about 10 minutes you can reach a regional supermarket, bars, restaurants and cafés are also right there. There are plenty of free parking spaces at the hotel. You can also rent a car from the hotel.

Hotel in the shadow of a large mountain, right by the ocean. The absolute lack of sun (at least in February) means that the ocean breeze does not dry out and moisture is everywhere in the hotel. Unfortunately, also in the room, things get damp after just one day, opening the windows does not help. The rooms were cleaned very cursorily, towels were changed and beds were made. Nobody washes the floor. When ants came into a dead cockroach (the size of half the size of a hand!) at night and we killed hundreds of them, it stayed there for three days and only the second intervention at the reception resulted in washing the floor. The first time I was given a broom and told that I had to clean it myself. Breakfasts were terrible (scrambled eggs made of powdered eggs), dinners were surprisingly good. In one word - Madeira is wonderful, I do not recommend the hotel even as a base.
