I did not stay at this hotel as it is temporarily closed. It was very sad to see such a historic hotel ravished by the hurricanes. There was sand lining the whole parking lot, and the inside has been gutted from the front doors to the back. Not sure if it will reopen.

No housekeeping and very bad food service would never go back.staff were very rude paid with tour group in advance and could not get a refund. Rooms were not cleaned daily as advertised some days the maid showed up at 530 - 6 pm to tidy when we were getting ready to leave. Not organized what so ever. Complete waste of money.

First, let me say that the location right on the beach and close to the mangroves is awesome. That is why I picked this place. If you are interested in kayaking through the mangroves, it is a five minute walk to kayak rentals. The beach is amazing. Otherwise, this is far from a fancy resort hotel. Decor is dated, although rooms were clean and comfortable enough. Some parts of the hotel looks particularly run down, although I think there were renovations underway. There are not a lot of dining options nearby, but the hotel provides a free shuttle to St. Armands Key, which has several shops and restaurants. I felt like it was good value for the money so long as you know what to expect.

I can't believe a reputable chain like Opal is still stealling people's money for this place. The front rest acts like everything is fine and they will not shutter the place until "some time next year". It looks like a squatters haven. Book here and these are the amenities you'll get. Beer cans floating in the pool. Sand at the bottom of both pools. Several holes in each of the beach cabanas. Old mismatched pool furniture. A poolside conversation pit complete with missing cushions (A nice dumpster find). Sand and debris EVERYWHERE. Yellow caution tape around an area that used to be the guest laundry (looks like a TV Show crime scene). No security gates at any of the parking areas Sagging and missing exterior parts of the building 99% vacancy (we saw less than 10 cars in the lot). Opal, do your reputation a favor and put that sad place to rest.. You should have done it 3 years ago.

We’re here for the 3rd and 4th of July, so our plan was to get our own private little spot on the beach without the hustle and hassle of getting all your own beach stuff like chairs, umbrellas, parking, beach spots, etc but I’m kind of doubting everything now. Firstly the sand over on this side of lido is totally different than 400 meters away north up to the public beach. This isn’t the hotels fault but I’m just saying, for future travelers. The hotel itself is about to collapse. We were lucky enough to have The amenities working like AC, hot water, coffeemaker, fridge etc but everything else is quite gross like the carpets and bathroom. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing I am saying I’m lucky to have amenities 🥲. The absolute WORST part is the blankets. It’s like a weird fleece sandwich blanket. A sheet, a fleece in between, and a sheet on top. So if you turn your body any certain way - good bye comfort! 😡Anyway, the pool is nice and the balcony has a nice view? It is kid friendly because there’s elevators and kiddie pool. The staff is helpful and nice though. It’s good that I can speak some spanish.

Hotel with very old facilities. Very uncomfortable beds. The lamps in the room were not working, I request the repair, a boy went to the room and left without having repaired. They did not even offer to change rooms. A disregard for the customer. I do not recommend!!

Exceeded my expectations. I came here with my two kids and we had everything we needed and more at a reasonable price. Our room was fantastic. We could eat breakfast and immediately walk to the beach. Then jump in the pool and have lunch after. Free water all day and towels. The chairs and umbrellas at the beach kept us comfortable. Yes it’s old and it’s definitely not perfect. But if you were raised on old Florida charm then this place has a warm and inviting vibe. I felt very safe and they helped me give my kids a great stay!

Overall for the price we paid we were pleased with our stay. I would give this hotel 4/5 stars.⭐️ People who traveled: mom, 2 young kids under 5, grandma. All stayed in one room and were comfortable. The hotel is a bit date/older. If you don’t mind that I would say there is nothing wrong with the hotel. It’s clean and has a lot of amenities we thought were worth it. Pro’s: Clean Air worked good Friendly staff Felt safe at night (security guard escorted us to our room when we arrived late) Free water bottles daily (unlimited) 2 pools- clean Tiki bar with food and drinks. Restaurant on site- reasonable prices and happy hour. Free towels for beach and pool Beach access steps away Free beach chairs and umbrellas. Friendly staff Free shuttle into st Armand’s circle (just have to have front desk call it for you- runs a long time), also a free shuttle onto the main land- have to follow the route but can go into town to Whole Foods with it to get basic items Fridge worked well and was big enough Nice little balcony Comfortable beds Nice beaches and clean. Water was warm for us and kids to swim. Microwave for use in main lobby Computer for use in main lobby Showers to use after beach Felt safe About a 5 min drive into st Armand’s circle. Can Uber/lyft to airport with no issues (about $30 in Uber xl with luggage) Con’s No tub for kids Older Hotel style- doors were facing outside No elevator We would stay again if we ever visit lido beach again. Thank you!! 😊
