Hotel Indigo JABAL AKHDAR RESORT & SPA

A hotel overlooking the mountains. Opened in August 2024. The rooms and all the facilities are fresh! For those who don't mind the high room rate, I recommend you to stay in the Canyon View room. You won't regret it! It's still quite cold on the mountain, up to about 15 degrees, and you can see many people wearing thin down jackets. Not far from the hotel is the Anatara Resort Hotel, which has a Diana's Point, where Princess Diana of the United Kingdom and Prince Charles (now the King) have been. You can walk or drive there. It's free. We went to see the sunset. Note that you need to drive a 4x4 or AWD vehicle to go up the mountain. There is a police checkpoint at the intersection at the bottom of the mountain. Vehicles that do not meet the requirements must stop at the checkpoint and be sent up the mountain by qualified vehicles. You need to pay, but I don't know how much it is. If you have the conditions, it is recommended to rent an all-wheel drive car in Oman to avoid trouble. In addition to going up the mountain, sometimes the map navigation leads to the wild road, and you can also drive an all-wheel drive car at this time.

Stepping into Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar, I am immediately transported into a place of relaxation and it’s almost when time has stood still. No doubt, the service standards has been from start to finish extremely impeccable. I am very amazed that the staff are all very polite and very friendly and forthcoming. In particular, I am very impressed with Cristina, a staff from Bella Vista Italian Restaurant. Cristina has been so friendly and she has managed to make us feel at home even only with just a dinner affair. The attention to details of provided is mind blowing and I so impressed by the breakfast buffet spread that I am spoilt for choices. Notwithstanding, the view is absolutely breathtaking and each time I stand at the viewpoints of the hotel I am always amazed at he grandeur of the canyons that the hotel overlooks. This place is a must visit for anyone who wants luxurious living , glorious view sand excellent service standards.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Dusit Hotel, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff’s hospitality and attention to detail truly stood out, making my stay both relaxing and memorable. A special thanks to RagaShekar, Basanta, and Miraj for their outstanding service. Their professionalism, warm demeanor, and dedication to ensuring a pleasant stay were remarkable. They went above and beyond to cater to my needs, which I genuinely appreciate.

This lodge has the most spectacular setting high up on the side of a mountain with uninterrupted views of Wadi Mistal. The altitude is around 1500m so the days and nights are nice and cool. The outdoor eatery is set out on different levels, all providing amazing views. There is a ~1km long stairway that goes up through the village and the beautiful oasis following a small water canal, terminating at a peaceful overlook – well worth doing. The drive up Wadi Mistal to the lodge is beautiful, and the last 3km adventurous as the road turns into a rough and steep 4WD road. The lodge itself is fairly rustic and basic, formerly village houses that have been renovated. Our 2-room suite was spacious and nicely renovated, however there was only one very small window, so almost no natural light. The resulting dimness made it a not very inviting place to hang out. It’s cool that it is an old Omani house, however a bit more natural light would be nice. The other problem was that the rooms had little sound-proofing - we had some noisy neighbors and we could hear all their conversions as we were trying to sleep. The steep pathway leading up to our room and up to the road was just loose cobbles and boulders, so very poor footing especially in the dark. Our AC and hot water were both great There is no Wifi connection but the 5G cell signal was quite strong and fast. The bed was nice and comfortable and the place was reasonably clean. The staff however didn’t bother to clean our room or provide fresh towels during our stay which was annoying. We had half-board and the meals were somewhat disappointing. The main problem was that the meal/portion size was extremely small, not nearly enough food for active people, but we were lucky that we had some of own food with us to supplement the meager meals. The meals were basic and tasty, but just too small! Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to other travelers. Our main complaint was the food. For the amount we paid for the room, I would’ve expected far better (and far more abundant) food.
