Premier Inn Scarborough (South Bay)

First the positives. The room was very clean, comfortable and bathroom was obviously recently refurbished. Breakfast was excellent and good value, but more on that later. Now the not so good, or could do better! The check in policy is ludicrous, I understand they need to have a designated check in time, but whilst waiting (40 minutes) I overheard the staff clearly stating that all rooms were ready for guests, but as people were entering the reception they were informed that check was not possible until 3pm and they had to wait or pay £10.00 for an early check in! The result was a packed reception and when they did commence check in, due to a “new system “ it was painfully slow! Very poor customer service. The breakfast was good value, but the attitude of the cashier guy was poor at best, probably rude if to be defined. On approaching him I was asked “ breakfast for two “ to which I replied “ no there’s only one” to which he snapped “ well I’m not to know that!” Not expected and yes rude!

Easy enough to find with additional road side signage. It was endless corridors. Reception to room was 5mins. The room was clean and comfortable. However not when the associated bar uses the bins to the rear. Bottles clattering and people shouting every night around 10.30pm. The food was OK nothing special apart from the best knickerbocker glory I have ever had. The breakfasts were great apart from the toaster fire. Scarborough has changed a lot since I last visited not everyone is friendly or looking out for you. With the bar being public you were in the company of some very strange and concerning non residents.

We were disappointed with the cleanliness of our Premier Plus room. The carpet was badly stained, the bathroom floor was dirty, and the shower tray was unclean. The pod coffee machine also leaked water. When we requested a mid-stay clean during our three-night stay, we had to specify exactly what needed to be done. Despite this, the sink was left untouched, and the bed was not made. Overall, the standard of housekeeping was well below expectations.

Receptionist lovely but experience terrible. Room not ready, check in was from 3 we arrived at 5.30 it was not ready and when we went in it was filthy, my toddler was shattered, the toilet had paper in, dust everywhere. Rubbish under the beds.
