Casa Dell'Aromatario b&b

What a little gem of a place. Sadly we only stayed here for one night, by default as our b@b had double booked us. Silvio went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Beautiful rooms, stunning 1000 year old breakfast room, breakfast was amazing.

We loved our stay here, primarily due to the kindness and attention of the owners, brothers Silvio and Carmelo. Upon arrival, Silvio accompanied my husband to find parking, setting the stage for a pleasant stay. He subsequently arranged a tuk tuk tour for us, gave us a tour of the inn and explained its history (which was most interesting given that the building was originally a grain repository), and upon departure insisted on carrying our bags to our parked car and stopping traffic to help us get on the road. Carmelo was equally gracious, giving me a detailed tour of his herb garden and explaining the virtues of each plant. Nothing seemed to be too much for them to do to make our stay pleasant. Breakfast was varied and plentiful in what had originally been the grain repository. Silvio even noticed that my husband ate the packaged croissants at breakfast and the next morning showed up with two freshly baked croissants from a nearby bakery. The room was nicely appointed and extremely clean and there were some nice seating areas outside the rooms where you could enjoy the fresh air or dry out your laundry. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sciacca, which is a very pleasant seaside town. However, what made our stay special were the exceptional and caring owners of this property. I highly recommend this B&B for future stays.

My wife and I stayed at the lovely B&B Casa dell'Aromatario in early July. This B&B (it's essentially a small boutique hotel) is perfectly situated on one of the main roads through town, with shopping and great restaurants within easy walking distance. Our room was well appointed and super clean. Room cleaning service was unobtrusive and efficient. The town itself, an old fishing village and hour southwest of Agrigento, is more than worth a visit, and the Tuk Tuk excursion is a nice way to get around the steep streets, especially in the historic Byzantine Arab section. What really sets this place apart is the proprietors, Silvio and his brother Carmelo. From waiving us in to a temporary parking spot as we pulled in, insisting on carrying our bags up the stairs to our room, driving with us to nearby parking, and essentially tending to our every question and need, they are a dream team -- incredibly passionate about what they've created and eager to cover whatever you need. Carmelo has created an amazing collection of aromatic herbs in an courtyard behind the B&B, which you can enter though a back door to the hotel or from the side street. We spent an hour with him and enjoyed every minute as he carefully walked us through his creations. At the end, my wife asked for a Coke Zero. Because the B&B didn't carry that variety and it was Sunday, where most shops were closed, we thought we were out of luck. 15 minutes later, Silvio reappeared with the Coke Zero in hand, and who knows where he went to get one for us. But that sort of service sums up our experience at dell'Aromatario. We recommend Sciacca as a nice stop in your travels through Sicily and highly recommend that you stay with Silvio and Carmelo when you come through. Five stars!

This is a truly beautiful BB but I would say it is like a boutique hotel. Firstly, let me start by saying Sciacca is a lovely place to visit. It is so old and the people are sooooo freindly. From start of booking there was great communication from the Silvio and Carmelo. All my questions were answered. The family room was great 2 adjoining rooms. So clean new and fresh lovely decor and balcony. The building renovation is done to the highest standard with great sound proofing so even though it was city cente it was quiet. Free parking close by. The mini bar in room was super and not expensive everything this family thinks of. I don’t think I have ever stayed anywhere in my life where they just thought of everything. We ended up eating out with Silvio and we had a right laugh. The 2 terraces are just lovely with a beautiful old church view. They are so clean and nicely furnished. We had a lovely breakfast with lots of lovely local produce. The caves are just amazing and I cannot imagine the intensive labor of love these 2 men had for this place restoring it beautifully. It is like a museum and the history behind it is fantastic. The ancient jugs they found to secret cellars and ancient water systems vaulted ceilings, it’s all there. The herb tour was so enjoyable and clearly you can see Carmelo’s passion for his work also. We also met their mam and Lovely daughter who works there. They have such respect for the past and the people that lived and worked there. Everywhere there is something that tells a story. We would love to go back and stay again as we were treated like family. Honestly if you are going to South Sicily stay here, it is a unique experience you will never get anywhere else.
