Boca Ciega Resort by Travel Resort Services

We reserved a one bedroom condo in February 2025, but our flight to Florida was cancelled the day before due to weather in PA. We then tried to rebook our reservation at Boca Ciega, but they would not let us move to another date, and kept the full payment! So, unless you're willing to pay even more for travel insurance, don't expect them to care if you are a victim of circumstances, no matter what those circumstances are. All they care about is getting your money, and keeping it regardless of the situation, so please BEWARE!

Lovely complex with a nice pool and well-cared-for grounds. Most of the rental units are rather small one bedrooms with one room that combines a living area and little kitchenette, and there is a small separate bedroom - tho there are a few two bedrooms. The units are individually owned so they vary in price, cleaning fees, decor, upkeep, rules for cancellation, whether they allow pets, and what things are included in the unit. We stayed in a small one bedroom for a few nights and it was a good stay, tho we might not want to be in such a small space for a longer vacation. However, the one bedroom units definitely are larger than most hotel rooms. You just have to do your own housekeeping, bring your own soap & shampoo, etc., and in some cases paper products - which you would get at a hotel. Most balconies have a great view of the water, and Madeira Beach is about a 7 minute drive away. Public beach access in Madeira Beach is spotty due to many large condos and hotels along the beach, so be sure to check out where you can park and access the beach. Our only issue with the Boca Ciega condo complex is that it is close to a highway and busy bridge, especially on one side, so proximity to the highway can be an issue as far as intruding on part of the view and excessive noise from all the cars. Again, we had a nice stay for a few nights and probably will come back when we want a short getaway.

The photos of the unit we stayed in (201) showed the bay and the bridge of the highway nearby. What we didn’t realize till we got here was that it is right On the highway. The noise is deafening. This complex was built in 2006 and is very dated. While there is an elevator in the middle of the complex, you have to walk a very long way carrying heavy groceries if your unit is near either end. We were told there was a cart somewhere, but we never found it. Perhaps in 2006 this was considered a resort, but it is just a condo complex with a pool, a sad little grill area and a marina with mostly derelict boats. The bright spot for us was the owner’s assistant, Kelly, who spent hours here trying to get the TV to work. The appliances are old, the cabinets are high, and there is no step-stool, so very difficult to reach. We had to go to nearby Target right away to get a tub mat, because the tub is so slippery with nothing to hold on to. The slider door needs some safety stickers on the glass to prevent someone (me!) from walking into it. The unit is pet friendly, which was why we chose it, and perhaps that’s why the owner seems to take so little pride in the place. We rented it for 3 weeks, but spent much of it away in Tampa, staying with our adult kids and their families.
