Super 8 Hotel (Shanghai Pudong Airport Chenyang Road)

Location close to the Pudong airport. Free shuttle bus every hour to the airport. Takes about 15min. Hotel room very basic, old. Ac noisy. No elevator, just dirty stairs to your floor.

I recently stayed at the Super 8 Hotel near Pudong Airport and, despite reading the negative reviews about the smell, I chose to stay there—thinking it couldn't be that bad. But the moment I walked into the building where the rooms are located, the odor hit me like a wall. It was overwhelming and unpleasant, and it only got worse inside the room. There was visible mold in several areas, and the entire space had a thick, humid, moldy stench that clung to everything. After just a short stay, even my clothes started to smell like it. The bathroom was no better—there was a strong, sweaty odor mixed with the scent of rust from the corroded fixtures. It was so bad that I couldn’t stand staying in the room for long and found myself spending most of my time outside to escape the smell. To top it off, the moldy atmosphere blocked my nostrils, making it hard to breathe properly. If you're considering staying here, don’t make the same mistake I did. This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had.

This hotel was really bad. We arrived at the airport 00:20 and arrived there at 3:00, because we had to wait a long time for the shuttle and the shuttle drove to other hotels first to drop off guests. We had already messaged the hotel two days before and when we arrived called the hotel. The guy on the phone didn’t speak any English and hung up on me 12 (!!!!!!) times, even though I speak Mandarin pretty well and found the pick up location at the end. The guy was so rude and unhelpful. He just kept hanging up without telling me where the pickup location was, we were standing in the cold for two hours. The room and bathroom were run down and not clean and smelt like cigarettes. The sheets and towels were clean though. The shower was gross and the water was either freezing or boiling hot.

Pretty good hotel for its price. Convenient location near Pudong airport, friendly personnel. Shuttle bus to the airport provided.

Checked in at night and asked one staff to help me with ordering food online but he did not help. On the contrary the lady who works there was very helpful. Hotel offers free shuttle bus to airport but only till 1.50pm. For anyone leaving at night, we need to do our own transport arrangement. They provide shampoo and bath gel in tiny sachets which is not very convenient to use. Room smells of cigarettes. Found a cockroach in washroom.

It looks like the boss only cares about money and doesn't care about guests' comfort and health. The rooms are too dirty. Though I changed the first room they gave me as it was way too filthy but the second room was slightly better but still not clean enough. And I woke up to a spider in my bed in the morning. The curtains were filthy. There was dirt on the windows, water kettle and toilet sink. Terrible experience. I wish there was negative rating.
