We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location is excellent, very close to all the main attractions, which made getting around so easy.
A big plus was the free transportation provided to and from the airport/railway station—such a convenient service. The staff also helped us with our luggage right from the car all the way to our room, which we truly appreciated.
Our room was very spacious, perfect for two people with big suitcases, and still had plenty of space to move around comfortably. Breakfast was yummy too, with a nice variety to start the day. The staff also gave great recommendations on places to visit, which added so much to our trip.
Overall, a wonderful experience—we’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

This hotel is definitely going into my 'best of 25 years' list – it's absolutely stunning! With a vast expanse of grassland, the room's 180-degree floor-to-ceiling windows perfectly frame the snow-capped mountains, sprawling grasslands, and grazing herds of cattle and sheep, creating a breathtaking panorama right from your room. The room is equipped with underfloor heating and an oxygen concentrator, and the bedding is incredibly comfortable. The attention to detail is impeccable, making for a truly restorative stay. The Black Bean Coffee House, located within the estate, offers a unique Black Bean afternoon tea that's perfect for stunning photos.
The guesthouse felt very private, with its own entrance and courtyard. The moment we walked into the lobby, we were struck by its impressive ambiance. Beyond the guest rooms, there's also a ******* folk culture hall. The owner, a lovely ******* grandma, is incredibly welcoming and happy to share stories about their culture if you're interested. Upstairs on the second floor, complimentary ******* traditional attire is available for guests to try on for photos. Our group of nine all dressed up and took some fantastic pictures in the culture hall and lobby – the results were awesome! Everyone was thoroughly satisfied with the black chicken hotpot and yak butter tea served on the night of our check-in. We had booked three rooms, and Grandma generously upgraded them, which was a lovely surprise! We stayed for two nights. On our departure day, breakfast usually started at 8 AM, but we had to leave by 7 AM. Grandma, being incredibly thoughtful, had already prepared eggs, steamed buns, and corn for us. We were so touched by her kindness. As we left, we said our goodbyes to Grandma. We told her we'd definitely be back and would recommend her place to all our friends. Goodbye, dear ******* Grandma with such a bright spirit!

Shangri-La Qingyu·Jianshan Guipu Manor (Napahai Scenic Area Branch)
Napa Sea Scenic Area, Shangri-La | 1.7KM from Prairies Horse Riding Field
GGuest UserI've never embarked on such a thrilling journey. The hotel is spectacularly perched on the side of the Jinsha River Grand Canyon, halfway up the mountain, with a sheer cliff face on one side and the deep canyon on the other. When booking, I honestly didn't pay much attention to the exact location. I simply looked for a hotel near Tiger Leaping Gorge, as we planned to visit it the next day. But as we navigated there in the afternoon, driving up the mountainside, even my husband, a very experienced driver, started to get nervous. The road was incredibly steep – perhaps a 40-50 degree incline? – and what made it truly terrifying was that on one side was the sheer drop into the Jinsha River Grand Canyon, with the powerful river rushing below. It was an extreme test of nerve. I was so scared I couldn't utter a word, my mind racing with thoughts of unfinished business.
When we finally reached the hotel, perched precariously on the mountain, we met other guests who confessed they were too scared to drive back down and needed the hotel owner to take them. Despite the adventurous journey to get there, the hotel's scenery is absolutely unparalleled. It truly embodies the saying, 'the most spectacular views are found in the most treacherous peaks.'
This hotel has deep roots in the ancient Tea Horse Road. It's situated in a pivotal location along the Tea Horse Road, attracting many international trekkers and hikers. The owner himself is an avid hiking enthusiast. It was such an unforgettable experience that my husband said he wants to make a special trip back.
Next time, with this experience under our belts, we'd definitely park our car at the foot of the mountain and have the hotel pick us up. Alternatively, you could arrange for the hotel to drive your car up for you. Of course, if you're an adventure-seeker, you might enjoy the challenge! Haha.
GGuest UserJust next to Dukezong Ancient City. Best location you can find here. The service is excellent, they will send people to pick you up, once you alight from taxi. Think they even offer to pick you up from railway station or airport, but they couldn't reach me cause I didn't check their message in the app. Overall experience with this hotel is excellent. The staff are friendly. Highly recommend this hotel.
AAnonymous UserShān Lín Yuè was truly a delightful highlight of this trip! The moment we walked in, a fluffy 'friend' came right over to greet us, and our hearts just melted! The afternoon tea was exquisite and incredibly thoughtful – truly therapeutic. The front desk attendant not only helped us with our luggage upstairs but also discreetly shared a secret path to catch the most stunning reflection of Songtsam Linka Monastery. He patiently explained how to best explore the area, making us feel like old friends. The front desk attendant proved to be an excellent driver, getting us to the Tusi Banquet incredibly quickly. I highly recommend booking the Tusi Banquet through him; we not only secured front-row seats but also got a better price than booking elsewhere! This place didn't feel like a guesthouse at all; it was more like a second home in Shangri-La. I'm already dreading having to leave!
GGuest UserPros:
Helpful owner which even drop us off at station and allow us to leave luggage at his other inn.
Left stuff behind and they help to courier it to us.
Herbal footpath soak was provided, including one time use plastic for the tub.
Cute room, exactly same as trip photos.
Could be cons for ppl who are afraid of dogs but the dogs were super friendly and cute, that came running to gate to welcome us.
Help to heat up food that we brought.
Breakfast was good.
Cons
Location whereby you need a car to get to. Only two restaurants deliver food there. And if you want order dinner from them, have to inform in advance. Wasn’t aware and did not order in advance but they had kindly allow to order hotpot (which honestly was abit pricey). So please prepare food before heading there.
Will definitely go again if I were to go Shangrila as the only con was the location which is already stated on the listing.
GGuest UserPerfect location facing Napai Lake’s grasslands—breathtaking views! Rooms were fantastic with ultra-comfortable beds. Loved the projectors for family movie nights after exploring Shangri-La.
Minor suggestions:
- Service felt occasionally strained via WeChat (e.g., room service requests). A touch more hospitality would enhance the experience.
- English/Mandarin manuals would help guests navigate the smart room tech.
- Consider eco-friendly alternatives to disposable towels.
-serve coffee or tea with breakfast
Overall, a wonderful stay we’d recommend!
AarkenchanterThis was my first time visiting Shangri-La, and naturally, I chose to stay at the Shangri-La Hotel. The entire hotel features a comprehensive Tibetan-style decor, with all its decorations and furnishings exuding authentic ******* charm. Upon entering, you're immediately greeted by the distinct scent of ******* incense. Its location is superb, offering views of various landmark buildings right outside the windows. While the facilities are somewhat dated, they are well-kept. The staff were also very warm and welcoming, and the breakfast spread was quite generous. There were a couple of minor issues: during checkout, someone else's expenses were mistakenly charged to our room, and we had a slight problem returning an umbrella. Both were eventually resolved, but it was a bit of a hassle.
SSonia Wan CYThis hotel gives a very fresh and new first impression. I found out from Quzhen (曲珍)that it only opened in July. The design of the entire hotel is excellent – very chill yet infused with local ethnic characteristics. It's not overly ******* like many guesthouses tend to be; the balance is just right, modern with an artistic feel. It's a place that literary and artistic youths would surely love, with many photo hot spots.
Quzhen (曲珍)was my butler for this trip. She is an incredibly enthusiastic girl, providing very attentive service. She was responsive to every request and exceptionally thoughtful. When I felt unwell one day, she immediately arranged for an oxygen tube for me and checked on me regularly. She makes you feel at home. The other staff members are also very warm and friendly.
The hotel's location is absolutely top-notch, right next to the Songzanlin Monastery. It takes less than two minutes to walk to the side door.
The large floor-to-ceiling window in the room allows you to literally fall asleep looking at the Songzanlin Monastery. It's a highly recommended hotel.
If I have the chance to come to Shangri-La again, I will definitely return here. Quzhen (曲珍)feels like a friend waiting for me to come back in Shangri-La. It combines the facilities of a design hotel with the warm service of a guesthouse.
I have a few minor suggestions for the hotel: Next time I return, it would be wonderful if there were a few sun-beds on the terrace at the left of the restaurant. Lying there, sunbathing, reading a book while gazing at the Songzanlin Monastery would be super chill. Also, I think the breakfast could offer some Western options, such as bread, fried eggs, sausages, sandwiches, yogurt, coffee & tea etc. Afternoon tea could also be a nice addition.
As for the room facilities, everything is very good. It has diffuse oxygen, a humidifier, and many books for reading. It would be perfect if some seating cushions could be added to the bench next to the window along with a small tea table and tea set.
In conclusion, the entire experience was excellent. Thank you to every staff member at the hotel, especially Quzhen(曲珍). I hope to have the opportunity to see you again – my friend in Shangri-La.
CChengziweineThis is my second trip to Shangri-La, and I was genuinely surprised to find a boutique hotel of such high design and quality right here on the Shangri-La grasslands. As a former hotelier, I can confidently say that at around 300 yuan, it offers exceptional value for money.
The hotel also features a complimentary rooftop hot spring, which I highly recommend trying. Even though the hotel has been open for several years, it's remarkably well-maintained. I chatted with the owner and learned they undertake annual renovations and introduce new room types, which truly shows their commitment to continuous improvement.
I even asked the owner why their hotel's rating was 4.6. His candid response was, 'Is that considered low? Many of our international guests leave very honest reviews. Do you really believe that hotels with 4.9 or 5.0 ratings are based entirely on genuine customer feedback?' I completely agree. I'm personally quite wary of small hotels with unrealistically high scores where it's impossible to find any flaws.
As someone who used to work in the hotel industry, I definitely feel that the current business environment is vastly different from what it once was.
A special thank you to the ******* auntie for her exceptional care. She assisted me with my luggage, from bringing it in upon arrival to seeing it off when I departed – a level of service that truly surpassed many five-star hotels.
