"The Dunhuang Hotel lives up to its reputation! It's located right next to the Shazhou Night Market and offers a wealth of dining options. The hotel's facilities are first-class, elegant, and beautifully appointed. I originally booked a king-size bed room without a window, but the hotel proactively upgraded me to one with a window, which was very thoughtful. The room was comfortable and cozy, and the front desk and housekeeping were attentive and helpful. I stayed four nights, and while the room was quite expensive, it was a great value!
The only downside was the breakfast. While the breakfast setting was pleasant, the service was friendly, and the food looked plentiful, it was almost identical every day and not particularly tasty. The hot dishes tasted like leftovers. The cantaloupe wasn't sweet at all, and there were several canned fruits on display. It's harvest season, so why not have more fresh fruit?"

"I stumbled upon this newly opened hotel and booked it because I liked the facilities. When I contacted customer service, the sales director offered a lot of advice and even upgraded me to a family room. At the airport, the hotel picked me up in a Mercedes-Benz. The front desk staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was just as pictured: spacious and clean. The floorboards are a great option for those who don't like carpet. The hotel is a convenient ten-minute walk from the night market. The restaurant's portions are surprisingly generous. The braised pork is served in a bowl, haha, and it's delicious. Since my return flight was late, they even gave me a free late checkout. I'm so grateful to the sales director and the front desk staff. I highly recommend this hotel."

"Fuguo was so new when we visited in April 2025 that it was still being constructed around us! The staff made great efforts to minimize disruption and noise, and the room was very clean since it was basically new! Special thanks to Xiao Tian and the others at the front desk for going above and beyond for helping us locate a lost item, including contacting the business and arranging a courier to retrieve the lost item. Breakfast was great, too, and the breakfast staff very accommodating! The only caveat (especially for Western guests un-used to the ubiquitous smoking habit in China): we had a wonderful time at Fuguo hotel partially because this was the only truly non-smoking facility we encountered during our trip to China. Because it was so new, the hotel did not have the smell of smoke in its general areas or within the non-smoking rooms. However, while leaving on our last day, we noticed that a large group of guests took up residence and immediately started smoking in the elevator and lobby. We recommend the hotel reinforces its non-smoking policy - as stated on the lobby signs - so that all guests can breathe comfortably."

"We got free upgrade to the suite so that was nice. Very pretty river view and not as noisy as some of the reviews I've read. Probably because the weather was getting chilly.
Room was very spacious, even for just the size of the bedroom alone. Bed was comfortable and not too soft. But I will say that the light switches in the rooms and also the smart toilet seat were very confusing. Strangely, it had a large bathtub area, but a separate and very squished shower closet. The water didn't quite drain properly also.
Breakfast was okay. But considering how the city really is just a town in the desert, I'd say it's actually pretty good. The local restaurants are also options, but we had to get up super early for day trips, and didn't feel like freezing outside to look for food when it's still dark. Side note, the night market in town is nice but not much going on outside of that area.
The hotel is not in the city centre, but since the city is small, taxi is the way to go. We actually end up just getting the phone number of one of the taxi driver, and called her whenever we planned to head out.
I chose the hotel based on aesthetics and was not disappointed. But our suite was in the end of a very long hallway, so get ready to walk if you are not near the elevator."

"I stayed in Dunhuang for a week and changed three hotels. Hanyun was a real surprise. The front desk lady, Yilin, was beautiful and welcoming (she was always happy to answer any questions she had). She even added extra quilts and welcomed fruit to our room.
The hotel's cleanliness exceeded my expectations, a testament to my meticulous selection after spending so much time on Ctrip. ☀☀
The bedding was also particularly commendable. The duvet covers were definitely the best in Dunhuang. The breakfast was incredibly generous, almost like lunch.
They even had a local, unnamed peach, which was surprisingly delicious. 😋😋"

"We drove here with our kids. The room had a bathtub and a projector, which the kids loved. The view of the vast Mingsha Mountain was stunning. The hotel is very close to the Shazhou Night Market, just downstairs and across the street. We went straight there after dinner. There's a large supermarket downstairs for some supplies. The front desk lady was very helpful and told us that parking is difficult near the Crescent Lake scenic area, but we could take bus No. 3 downstairs directly to the scenic area entrance, which was very convenient."

"Checked in on New Year's Eve. Two wind towels were given as a gift when I checked in. I took a photo of it specially because it was my favorite color, hehe.
Cleanliness: The room was surprisingly clean. No weird smell.
Facilities: Free toiletries are provided. The bathroom is spacious. The eco-friendly slippers are comfortable, but you can’t take them away.
Environment: Entering the hall, it is cozy, warm and the heating is very good.
Service: The beauties in the lobby are enthusiastic and warm.
To emphasize, heating is very good in winter. The bedding was clean and tidy. We stayed for two days and went out to the scenic spot on the second day. They cleaned and tidied the room without any request.
It is convenient to eat. There is an authentic beef noodle restaurant opposite the hotel, a convenience store next door, and a large supermarket around the corner, which is open on New Year's Eve. A perfect trip to Dunhuang! Dunhuang of the world, where my heart longs for!"
