Do not go if you expect to rest or sleep well, people use the swimming pool at any time of the day or night, and are extremely noisy (kids shouting at 5:45 am…). The staff was quite unhelpful in enforcing the pool opening hours. Rooms are fine

I can't recommend Smiley guesthouse highly enough!! Words cannot express how amazing and genuinely kind Sopheap, Nin and all their staff are. My father was staying at Smiley Guesthouse when he fell ill. Sopheap and his staff took my father to hospital, cared for him like family, brought him food and called me with updates while I was in London. When I arrived in Siem Reap, Sopheap acted as a translator for me with the police, came with me to the hospital, arranged transport, made phone calls, and helped me to organise a funeral which he and other staff attended as friends. This was all alongside running his guesthouse which was very busy and asking for nothing in return. Smiley guesthouse has the greatest hospitality you could ever ask for as well as great local knowledge. It is located very centrally, has its own tuk tuk driver who is very friendly and safe, very affordable rooms and a lovely pool. There is a very friendly and welcoming vibe, and the guesthouse is close to lots of traditional Cambodian restaurants for food, as well as a 2 minute walk to a cafe that does great Western style breakfast/brunch/lunch. If you stay here you will be supporting a beautiful family who will make sure you have a great stay. I hope to return one day under better circumstances and wouldn't stay anywhere else!

This is one of the friendliest places I've ever stayed at. Me and my 11 year old son arrived for the first time in Cambodia and the manager couldn't not have done any more to make us feel welcome. He arranged a transfer from the airport and showed us to our A/C with fan room. They helped so much with tuk tuk to the the temples. Where to eat and get about. Beautiful children filling the foyer with laughter. Practically as well it is in an excellent location. Tucked away off the street and walking distance to any of the action/food/shopping or just walking and talking. Felt very safe and wish we had planned a longer stay. Jonathan and Monty UK
