The campsite and private ablution block was neat and tidy. Lights only is available via solar panels. Hot water and shower is available by the use of a donkey which is stoked every morning at 7am. There is a lovely large clean pool for cooling down on those hot days. The management and staff are helpful and very friendly. Thank you Frikkie I will definitely come back.

388 / 5.000 We spent one night at the Alte Kalkofen-Lodge campsite. The pitches are a good size, and each site has its own sanitary facilities. They are in very good condition, very clean, and lovingly decorated. We used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast; all the food was excellent, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

We had the most wonderful stay at Alte Kalköfen Lodge! From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel so welcome and really went above and beyond with their personal touch. The dinner was incredible—delicious and very generous, we couldn’t get enough! Breakfast was just as lovely, with plenty of tasty options to start the day. It’s clear that every little detail is taken care of here. Highly recommend this cozy gem for anyone looking for amazing food and truly fantastic hospitality! Debbie, Stephan & Nicole

There is nothing here not to like. The owner is very helpful. The rooms are delightful. The food is incredible. The staff makes you smile. The greenhouse will thrill anyone into plants. The animal viewing is fantastic. This is a place that makes your heart sing. There are some issues for someone with mobility issues but the staff helped override the issues. Can't wait to go back. Wish we had stayed here and drove to Fish River Canyon for a day trip. The accommodations there were marginal.

The whole experience was wonderful. We arrived late and the owners were already waiting for us and had prepared a delicious and very, very complete dinner. Salad, main course with meat, side dishes and mini quiches (very good), and even dessert. The food was homemade and I felt at home. The little house where we stayed was very charming, a mix of old and modern. The house was all painted white inside and had some very peculiar and unique details such as the sinks, the indoor shower. The beds were facing a window where there was an outdoor shower. And the best thing is early in the morning with daylight entering the house to see the animals so close by walking. I loved it and I recommend it!
