Chettinadu Mansion – An Authentic Heritage Palace

Excellent hotel that provides an authentic Chettinad mansion experience. Great food, freshly prepared with traditional Chettinad spices. Great staff , always willing to help. Gopakumar is an asset to the hotel who is very professional and customer centric.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The old mansion is a delight and the rooms are comfortable and highly functional. The location of the mansion is terrific. A walk around the town is very interesting plus this is a great spot to use as a base for exploring the wider area. The meals here are excellent. They are delicious and the menus are well thought through. Just have a light lunch is my tip. Apart from the mansion itself, the real stars of the hotel are the staff. They are unfailingly helpful, polite and efficient. All the staff here made our stay a very happy one and we extend our heartfelt thanks (***** with a well deserved tip!). I highly recommend this hotel and would very happily stay here again anytime

Stayed for 3 nights. Wonderful heritage property. A bit run down but they have tried to do their best to maintain the property as best as they can. In the heritage part. Rooms are decent but a bit tight on space. Breakfast was pretty monotonous. No footwear allowed past main door. Staff are always willing to help. Gopakumar the GM is always willing to give you tips on places to visit etc. Paid around 10k per night.

Stayed here for one night as part of an Intrepid Travel Tour of South India. Fascinating to see all the old the mansions in the village in various condition. Chettinadu Mansion is delightfully restored. Rooms more on the basic side but very comfortable with large bathroom. The set dinner and breakfast both excellent and the staff lovely. A great experience.

What an amazing looking mansions. Lovely architecture, beautiful exteriors and classy interiors. A trip to these mansions take you to a different world of lifestyle. Had lunch at Wadheyar house. Delicious home cooked spread done in chettinad style of cooking. Reasonably priced and lovingly served. An enjoyable half a day trip.

It's an excellent base for exploring local attractions like other mansions, temples, and craft centers. However, its remote location means limited dining and entertainment options nearby. The peaceful surroundings appeal to those seeking a quiet retreat, but might feel isolating for others. DINE + DRINK: The in-house restaurant serves traditional Chettinad cuisine, known for its bold flavors and spices. The chef whips up authentic local dishes and home-style cooking. Vegetarian options are available, but the menu variety might be limited for extended stays. There's no bar on-site, and alcohol availability may be restricted due to local regulations. ROOM: We stayed in Room MEENAL, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: There is No view as the room did not have very many windows; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Very dated and old world bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Super Random Quality Toiletries, bring your own! FACILITIES: No Gym or pool on site, pure rural Chill! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to LALITH and RAJKUMAR who hosted us for dinner and drinks wonderfully! HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is OK! NO TV in the room!
