Our room was clean sheets and towels spotless .breakfast was excellent in fact. breakfast was most deffinatly the best part of our stay .I'm really sad I have to say I was a little let down .our room was so hot .we couldn't turn the radiator off .as it had no knobs on it. And it was boiling . obviously we asked why was the radiator on,and so hot. the lad on reception was not too helpful said it will go off at 6 it was a hot day .anyway the next morning the radiator was bouncing hot at 6 o clock in the morning .. so we went for a walk ..came back for breakfast @ 8.30 .. We also had noise from the castle pub facing which was terrible .that was in the afternoon.a live band . We had to buy a electric fan .as the hotel didn't supply one .which I think under the circumstances would /should of provided a fan. Also we were ask to pay on arrival .we were caught on the hop. and did pay first. I think if we hadn't paid firstly we may not of stayed.or held some money back for all the inconvenience we had to put up with. As for parking we parked at the back of the hotel next to the paying carpark .we did not have to pay. But only a few spaces behind the hotel were available.. Unfortunately I don't think we will be returning which is a shame.. , it could be, a beautiful hotel. Please try and sort that radiator in room 46 And a dripping tap in on suite bathroom . Breakfast staff. Keep up the good work your breakfast and service for breakfast was perfect.

Stayed for the bank holiday weekend. Room was very clean and we had good views over the sea front Beds were so comfortable! Staff very friendly and accommodating, breakfast was lovely and even though we were a few minutes late they did all they could to get us what they had left. Reception lady was lovely on the day we left. (Didn’t get her name) but to be honest all the staff we met during our stay were lovely and helpful and were keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay. I would definitely 100% recommend this hotel it’s run down but rooms are very clean. I hope the new owners see the potential in this hotel as it could be stunning using the original Art Deco features already there it really could be fabulous. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to others.

I had been recommended by a colleague who had visited some years ago before the Covid pandemic. At first sight you are taken aback at the somewhat crumbling 1930s era Moderne style of this standalone hotel building. However, once inside you receive a very hospitable welcome. You will discover that the hotel was newly built & opened in 1936 by one of the Bateman brewing family from nearby Wainfleet. An architect’s plan dated 1934 is exhibited in one of the rooms off the reception area together with photographs from that period. There is a user operated lift available dating from 1936 that works perfectly. The bedrooms are dated but equipped with nice firm beds, clean sheets & an abundance of spotless towels. On reflection the breakfast was easily one of the best I’ve ever encountered. Service was excellent, the menu choices were wide (including kippers) & the resulting cuisine was delicious. One final tip concerns parking. You approach the parking area from a narrow service road behind the hotel. Make sure that you have parked immediately behind the hotel building. Parking beyond the building takes you into the adjacent NCP car park. It is not easy to visualise this distinction between the two parking areas. Ask at Reception to ensure that you have parked in the area reserved for for hotel guests which is free Like many of the long established hotels in Skegness, the County has suffered from the recent opening of the large Premier Inn on the sea front. I’m an annual visitor to Skegness for an event at the Embassy leisure complex & I intend to return to the County next year.

Although this hotel is old fashioned (which I love and has some lovely features) I found the rooms very clean and accommodating. All the staff were very pleasant , helpful and polite . The bed was very comfortable. Some of our party who stayed had just finished their 100 mile charity bike ride from Leicester to Skegness and said their stay had been enjoyable and breakfast was lovely . Thank you and I would defintley recommend to stay here

The County Hotel is a 1930's Art Deco Hotel maintaining many of the original features . After closure due to COVID-19 restrictions there were a couple of teething problems , these were immediately rectified by Grant on reception . Overall the rooms are spacious , very clean and a great sea view . Staff are very efficient and obliging . A varied choice was available for breakfast which was well cooked and presented , Eggs Benedictine we can highly recommend . We would definitely return here . Linda and Geoff Burley
