Hot spring Hotels in Sofia

The Balkan is a old style hotel in the center of Sofia over a metro station and 1m from the pedestrian area. Nationa Gallery, Synagoga, Moskea are at walking distance. Hotel is not bad as itself if you like carpets and Impero style fornitures but without WIFI connection in the rooms on the last part of the corridors. Breakfast is huge and of good quality. The Waiters Mafia is dominating the floors and if they say ”No”... it's final. We asked for bathrobe for 4 days and was ”No”. We asked for shampoo and conditioner for 3 days and was ”No”. We had a coffee in room and the dirty cup stayed there for 3 days. All above despite the calls and attempts from the consierge desk to solve the issues. Minor issue: the Waiters Mafia is controlling the elevator also... many times the cleaning trailer was moved using the guest elevator (big) instead the service elevator (small).

As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by a uniformed man, who welcomed us to the hotel and took us to the reception desk, having looked after our bags, which were later taken to our room. The lady at reception treated us with great courtesy and efficiency, and therefore, from the outset, we realised we were in a well-run five star hotel with professional and helpful staff. Our bedroom was stylishly decorated in cool shades of grey, with two wide beds, a panoramic window with a view of Vitosha mountain, and the marble bathroom was of a good size, with modern fittings and a lovely walk-in shower. We had booked the Club Room and were not disappointed with the newly opened Club Lounge. They offer refreshments during the afternoon and then ‘happy hour’ from 6-8 pm. We found the service really excellent, with staff keen to help, and spent delightful early evenings having drinks and eating an enticing array of canapés. Breakfasts were also excellent in the Europa restaurant with a wide selection of cooked and cold options from the buffet, and dishes cooked to order such as omelettes and eggs benedict. One last point to mention - we found the Chief Concierge - Todor Goranchovski - most helpful in booking us restaurants and directing us to some notable attractions in Sofia: he was great. The Intercontinental is really a top class hotel and we would not hesitate to stay there again - thank you to everyone who made our stay memorable.

This hotel is in the center of Sofia, very close to the hotel, with shopping malls and restaurants. But the decoration of the hotel is relatively old. Well, the restaurant is still good, I will continue to stay and recommend it next time.

It’s an awesome hotel with a minimalistic good design, great restaurant, pool and team of professionals. I advice to book higher floors to enjoy the Mountain View. Breakfasts were great, not huge choice but good quality. Specific thanks to Slavka for giving such a good service.

Lovely hotel,friendly staff,great location,comfy beds,blackout curtains doing good job,good airconditioning,quiet space,great size of rooms and bathrooms,boring breakfasts (every day pretty much the same food).

We stayed for one night. We had informed via email that we would be arriving from Italy around 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. When we arrived at 1:00 PM, the room was not yet ready, and it was handed over to us at 2:30 PM. The reception service is terrible. In the evening, even at 10:30 PM, the bar was already closed. The cleaning lady opened our room at 7:30 in the morning. Although the suite terrace is a well-furnished and very spacious room, the Velux blinds cannot be closed, so you wake up with the first light of the sun. The breakfast is poor and served in the hall. Great location. For a 4-star hotel, they absolutely need to improve the service!!

I booked thinking it would have air conditioning, but it didn't. It was a summer night but luckily it was cool so no problem. There was a post raising issues with the card for the room key and lights, so I resolved it by inserting another card. Now you can escape the pain of locking from the inside in the dark. There was a mysterious hole in the toilet. You can see the piping. I thought it would be better to be invisible here,

Some rooms need renovation. Service was great. Breakfast delicious. The location is next to the airport, but getting there is hard, the street on the map which is going there is actually a offroad gravel road. Alternative way is to ho 2 km to sofia and then make a u,-turn. But I still recommended for one night stands close to airport.

Hotel location is very good, next to the subway, the decor is very modern There are a lot of bar activities in the evening, and the Japanese garden is very tasteful. The price is very economical in Sofia.
