Scottish Planter Bungalow- Thema Collection

Far and away the single best hotel experience I’ve had in my decades of travel. The attentiveness, consideration. And professionalism of the staff are matched by the serenity, beauty, and distinctness of their location. 5/5 would do it again.

This is a beautiful heritage listed house with four guest rooms. It is like stepping back in time to colonial Sri Lanka. The premises are beautiful and the surrounding village, gardens and mountains picturesque. The staff are quietly helpful in so many ways. They took the utmost care to look after us. The food was simply amazing- the chef was so accommodating and professional. It is a little way away from Nuwara Eliya center and the road was a bit rough, but it is being paved in March 2025, so should be easier. You won’t find any tour busses up here. An absolutely peaceful retreat- a real gem.

First of all, manager, Manusanka and crew at Scottish Planter Glendevon Bungalow are amazing. We stayed 3 nights. My mom and dad were not feeling well when we got to the bungalow. I was so worried and nervous about the situation. Team was very supportive and they went above and beyond making us feel home and prepared meals according to our requests and it helped my parents to feel better quickly. Mr. Manusanka reassured me that if there is any emergency let them know even if its late night they will be there to help us. Luckily my parents were feeling better the next day and we had a relaxing time there. Team is very kind and compassionate. The location is best to relax and unwind. They have a well maintained vegetable garden. Some juices and meals were prepared from freshly plucked vegetables and fruits from the garden. Chef Bandula prepares incredible dishes. There's a unique taste and variety in the dishes. The taste of the food ignite burst of flavors yet well balanced. One of my favorites is a garden salad he prepares. I am thankful for their great hospitality. We highly recommend the Scottish Planter Buglalow. Also, we will definitely visit the place again.

A unique and peaceful experience staying at the Bungalow and we felt that we had travelled back in time. The property is extremely well maintained and the pride of the staff really shows through. The road up to the bungalow is currently unmade although I believe that will be paved shortly. However, it does mean there is no passing traffic. Thank you to the Manager, who took us on a walking tour around the tea estate and who clearly takes pride in the Bungalows, thanks to the very skilled Chef whose food was a special treat, and to the rest of the staff who were so attentive, smiling and friendly. The weather up in the hills can change from morning mists to sunshine to cooler evenings and what a treat in the evening to have fires lit in the sitting and dining room making it a day of special surprises.
