Hotel Bristol

We stayed at Hotel Bristol on 7–9 October, after our daughter Candice’s wedding to her Neapolitan husband, Pasquale, on the Amalfi Coast. We returned because we’d never forgotten our amazing stay for my 60th birthday nine years ago — and it was just as wonderful this time! Pure class, beautifully run by experienced, smiling staff. Spotless, elegant, and full of timeless sophistication — not trendy or showy, just perfect. Special thanks to Giuseppe and Luca (whom I remembered from nine years ago!) for their professionalism and warmth. What a wonderful hotel. Service from all staff was excellent: reception, porters, cleaning staff, waiters, bar staff. All friendly, courteous and attentive. Special mention to Luca, Giuseppe and Carmine in the dining room, always happy, smiley and couldn’t do enough for us. Also the wonderful omelette chef at breakfast. Which brings me to the food, we were half board and it was wonderful. Awesome selection of everything you would expect at breakfast. Three courses of beautifully cooked food in the evening too, lots of choice. My favourite was the beef roll and the lemon delight. Whole hotel was spotlessly clean, lots of corridors with art and artefacts lining the walls. The layout did take us a few days to get our heads round, it’s made up of three buildings, all joined but we wandered around a bit at first till we found the best route to places. Lots of stairs, not suitable if you have limited mobility. Swimming pool area was lovely and relaxed, didn’t have a problem getting a sun bed. The pool was cold, not surprising for October really!! We will definitely be back, an excellent hotel.

The hotel Bristol is perfect the location is brilliant and the food is exceptional. Hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. I stayed there with my sister celebrating my 60th birthday . I can honestly say I couldn’t have wished for a better holiday. I will definitely be back ☺️

A classic hotel with views to die for, exemplary service and a hint of holding onto a time gone by. This was our second visit to Hotel Bristol, the first in 2007 as a couple, and our return in August with our two teenagers. In that period of time many things are unchanged, and here lies the charm of this hotel (and maybe its Achilles heal at some point in time). The hotel is incredibly well kept and maintained with quality finishes in the public areas (marble everywhere), and an abundance of artwork throughout the hotel, which has clearly been collected over many years. It is quite a traditional hotel and service - gents need to wear full length trousers at dinner- no exceptions. Although I failed to remember this on our second visit, it is in my view positive sign of where the hotel wants to maintain its standards. And at dinner and throughout all dining this shines through in the exemplary service provided by all the staff-who do so with such a smile and an obvious pride in this trade we so rarely see back here in the UK. Our room was modern and spacious and very comfortable. We did however experience poor acoustic performance between rooms which is a shame. Pay the extra and get a sea view room. But if the budget cannot stretch you have it from the dining room, the pool and the upper terrace. All at the top levels of the hotel. These must be the best views in Sorrento! So back to my point re lost in time and nostalgia. In my view the hotel needs to broaden its experience by also offering a little more contemporary amenities. For example, the hotel evening bar is very ‘traditional’ and with a limited external balcony space. But the hotel has a fabulous rooftop terrace that is totally un-used in the evenings. A small bar there so guests can have a more open-air drinking experience would be fantastic! And maybe accompanied by a little ‘modern’ background music? Our teenagers loved it. The pool and the views and the food was all they needed. They are mid to late teens- so can entertain themselves. There were no tots at this hotel during our visit and no extensive specific amenities for much younger children beyond a mini golf in the garden higher behind the pool. No inflatables allowed in the pool- again a rule I agree with. Would we return? Definitely! Could the hotel improve? A little bit to our tastes. If I could I’d give 4.5 stars but it’s easily rounded up to a 5. And lastly a big big thank you to all the staff at Bristol who helped make our holiday and stay there amazing!

The Hotel Bristol Sorrento is the perfect choice for anyone wishing to holiday in Sorrento. The rooms are clean and spacious The decor fresh and minimalistic which is typical of the region. Almost all rooms have a balcony with truly breathing views over Sorrento and across the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The hotel is only a short 15 minute walk from Sorrento town with it's bustling shops restaurants and historic old town. All the staff in the Hotel are very friendly and all speak very good English. The food in the restaurant is excellent, we were booked half board and the three course menu changed each night and offered something for everyone. The choice of food at breakfast was also excellent with little variations each morning. The bars pool area and restaurants are all of the highest standard and you can almost imagine you have stepped back in time to a more sophisticated, elegant and relaxed era. All in all if you intend to holiday in Sorrento look no further than the Hotel Bristol.
