Meal with friends for a birthday. Table booked for 8.00pm, by 8.10pm my wife was being told we needed to order because the the kitchen was closing at 8.30pm. Ordered the steak and asked for it rare, meal arrived and the steak was well done and covered in what seems to be more galic butter than the size of the steak. Sent the meal back and they did apologise and offered to cook the meal again. Had to chase the the replacement meal and by the time it arrived the rest of our party had finished their mains!.. (steak again covered in more garlic butter than the size of the steak and having to eat, while everyone else had finished)....I find this really irritating that you're asked how you would like your meal cooked, but they still get it wrong!.....what's the point!...The meal was removed from the bill, but I would have rather had the right cooked meal at the right time. Disappointing as this is a lovely pub and restaurant. Also service could be better and more polite and don't offer a later booking if you end up pushing your customers to order on arrival. When your bill is virtually £300.00 this is poor.

Welcomed and shown to our ground floor room across the courtyard. A small room but very nicely decorated. There was outside seating directly outside window but not obtrusive. Had evening meal in restaurant which we enjoyed as very flavoursome but expensive. We both slept very well but found the shower in ensuite bathroom very small and we are not big people! Breakfast not quite as good as evening meal as husbands bacon could have used more time cooking plus the sausage was only browned on one side looking a bit raw. Toast was burnt! I was not asked if I would like a refill of coffee as a full small jug of hot milk was given but only had a small cup of coffee. A very nice stay overall, room very comfortable.

A beautiful countryside hotel in Somerset, well placed for many local sites such as Wells, Glastonbury and the levels. Spacious nicely decorated rooms, excellent British natural amenities, quiet village location, friendly and welcoming staff and great food. Loved everything about it and can’t wait to come back.

Beautifully decorated and spotless rooms with good facilities. There was the option of different time slots for breakfast and a choice of cooked or continental. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. I would absolutely stay again.

I arranged a Sunday lunch surprise for my husband’s birthday recently. From the first enquiry about whether they could do a lunch for 11 people to the day itself, they were brilliant. Lunch was delicious, the service absolutely great and they kept the secret so well. I was nervous that having arranged for all the family to be in the Stable Room before we arrived, that one of the staff would let the cat out of the bag at the last minute but I need not have worried. They were very discreet! I am so grateful to all the staff for providing such a lovely venue and lunch.

Very warm welcome to this cosy, traditional hotel. Our room (9) was in the annexe. It was very cold as we arrived but soon warmed up with radiator and heated towel rail in bathroom. The room was very clean and bed very comfortable, complimentary bottle of water provided, plus tea/coffee making facilities. Only slight negatives were that the shower cubicle is very small, and wifi intermittent. Drinks by the log fire followed by excellent dinner and wine. Staff are very friendly, particularly the young man who welcomed us, gave us extra teabags without our having to ask, and cooked our delicious breakfast the next morning. There is a lovely family atmosphere around the hotel. Highly recommend. Woud love to visit again.

I mistakenly updated the restaurant and not the hotel page for our bank holiday family mini-holiday! In my photos I have screenshotted my hotel review. What a dream of a place. We absolutely loved our stay. Take the below 1 star review with a massive pinch of salt as we personally witnessed his appalling behaviour. Glad he left.
