White Hart Hotel

We stayed here for three nights, we chose this based on reviews and location as we were going to a concert at the Eden Project. The staff were super friendly and helpful right from check in. The rooms were fairly nice and they were cleaned daily which was great. The pillows were a bit too chunky for us, so we asked for some softer ones and they gave us some straight away. There was an iron and ironing board, blanket and a fan in the room which I think was a nice touch. The breakfast was quite nice and nothing was too much trouble for the staff in the mornings. We didn’t have our dinner here in the evening so can’t comment though believe it’s a busy and well recommended place. We did have a drink here one afternoon and the waiter was very friendly. The lady (I think the manager) was very helpful when trying to arrange a taxi for the Eden Project, though we did end up just getting the bus as taxis aren’t as easy to get as we thought, though we were last minute with booking it. The area (St Austell) is quite run down which is a shame as it could look lovely, but the pub is very pretty and well kept despite this and it is very quiet. It is a great base to explore Cornwall. A visit to the Eden Project is a must! And the train/bus station is just a 5 min walk away. We got a train to Newquay which was amazing. Thank you for a lovely stay :)

We stayed for 2 nights on business as the location is ideal and we had stayed before without any issues. The hotel itself is a really nice listed building which is kept extremely clean and tidy and the food is very good quality with a varied menu and desserts to die for. On arrival we found that the window from our room looked out directly on to a wall only a couple of feet away. We spoke to Andrew on the reception (turns out he covers a lot of roles and is one of the best customer facing people we have come across!) and he was extremely helpful in checking us into a different room which suited us better. Overall the staff are very courteous, helpful and polite and we have already booked to go back again the next time I have work in the area. A special mention to both Andrew and Lynne who are excellent. It has to be said that St Austell itself is a bit tired but there are a few attractions worth visiting if you decide to visit on a leisure break. We have no hesitation in recommending the White Hart.

Went to the White Hart yesterday evening for a family meal (10 of us) to celebrate our two sons birthdays. It was busy and we had pre ordered our food. We could not fault anything. The two staff on duty were extremely busy but pleasant. The food was brilliant and we could not fault anything. The prices were good also. We didn't feel rushed. Overall a brilliant evening out with excellent food and service. Thank you White Hart.

I cannot believe this awful place is a prize winner. It is noisy dirty and damp. The food is woeful, a carribean curry the colour of dung and the flavour of a sock. The manager just plain down offensive. The only hotel where I preferred to leave midtrip, despite being charged for a full stay. Tripadviser, you really must check these places out for yourself.

I'm pleased to say this hotel exceeded my expectations as it was my first stay in this Cornish town. It is a listed building in the town centre so has lots of character and provides great value for the price in very well furnished and comfortable surroundings. We had a standard room which was their base level and were completely happy to have everything needed for our four night stay in our room. The breakfast menu is extensive included in the price and perfectly cooked. We also chose to have our evening meal there as well and found the quality to be far above average with all of our choices cooked and served by well trained staff. Happy to highly recommend .

Absolute delight to stay at the White Hart. Brilliant welcome at the reception and the booking in was, without, any problems and we had the feeling nothing was too much trouble. The menu for my wife,who is vegan,was excellent with a super choice,which is unusual these days Please pass on our thanks to all the staff and we will see you again. Chris Honey
