The service is exceptional with friendly and efficient staff. Guests love the comfortable, spacious rooms and luxurious furnishings. However, there are issues with service delays, cold food, and limited breakfast options.

WARNING- These clowns think its acceptable to cancel your hotel booking (made weeks in advance), with only 2 hours notice when you are already on your way to the hotel. No one picking up the phone, no telephone number for the manager at all. Shockingly bad customer services. Please read the hundreds of terrible reviews online before trusting these guys. Little wonder they are closing down soon- probably more cancelations when this happens.

Arrived early booked in had a quick tour of the hotel, arrived in the room it looked amazing. It was for my partners surprised 30th the staff even took decorations up for the room before we arrived. They did everything they could to make the stay memorable. They did however clean the room for us after 1 night stay and accidently took a 30th bottle with my partners name on it and threw it away, but refunded us some money so I could buy a new one. My only gripes were the water took a while to warm up and the smell going to the stairs above the pub, but that's probably due to the log burner in the pub. The room could do with a little better cleaning. The food in the oak was amazing, but the food in the Thai was even better. The prices were a bit over the top and watch out for the 13.50% service charges on food. Staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcome.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. We arrived early as we wanted to have lunch. Our room obviously wasn’t ready which was fine as we were t expecting it to be. We were greeted warmly and given directions to the pub area to grab lunch. When we had finished one of the reception ladies came to tell us our room was ready (it was ready early) and as we had finished eating she toon us straight to the room. She was friendly and full of information. We stayed in room 12. It was stunning. My only gripe with the room was the lack of hot water and we did struggle to get the room warm (I do like to be warm so may not be a problem for some) The room was clean and yes there was a bit of wear and tear in a couple places and in a couple of areas in the hotel itself but if you choose to see these things and make a thing of them then you are looking to be picky for the sake of it. Special mention to Oscar who looked after us at lunch and dinner. He was super fun, very knowledgeable and made our anniversary dinner a memorable one. To be fair to everyone else in the Oak, the bar area and reception they were all very welcoming, friendly, engaging and helpful I just didn’t get their names to mention them individually. The food was beautiful. We thought out and cooked to perfection. We had Thai for lunch and ate in the oak for dinner. Overall our stay was perfect. We felt relaxed, welcome and like the only people in the hotel. The service was personalised and memorable and I will definitely go back.

I have to be honest when I read some of the reviews I was sceptical however in my option people only tend to leave poor reviews & those that are happy don’t bother. From the second we turned up we were treated with nothing but kindness. The room was clean and super comfortable as were all areas within the crazy bear. The staff were all lovely & the food was amazing. Genuinely had the most relaxed weekend. Beautiful village & lovely farm shop. Plenty of places to visit near by & loved seeing the animals at the farm shop. Sophie is an absolute credit to the crazy bear, she is both beautiful inside and outside. We very much hope to come back. Thank you everyone.

We stayed here many years ago, and it hasn’t changed since, although fashion has moved on , the hotel is stuck in the mid 2000s fashion, extremely dark and tired in parts. We arrived to great service from reception stuff , who walked us to our room. The disappointing part was being in a room which was a converted house, not on site. The house is next to residential houses, so basically you’re walking past people’s homes to go to your room. It felt like an air bnb - which I don’t like to stay in. The restaurant quality food was good, although they had no blackened cod ( Saturday night) and no fruit salad for breakfast. We asked what the best dish was, and the lovely waitress hadn’t tried many of the dishes ( she was lovely and very polite ). For the price you could get much better quality. The summer would no doubt offer a different vibe with all of the outdoor areas, but this place has huge potential to get back to their glory days ( this was one of the places to be ). In short, staff were great but the place needs some TLC and updating to make it worthwhile …. And maybe not offering an off site house where you’re walking through and past people in their kitchen .

Can I just say I was very weary about the reviews! I had booked and then checked them ( stupidly) BUT how stunning is this place! Honestly such a lovely experience and so glad that we finally booked and came here. They have gone above and beyond, the Thai restaurant is absolutely stunning! I mean absolutely strttunnning! We could not have asked for better, 12 plates for 2 people was more than enough. We were practically waddling out after trying to consume the lot lol but we enjoyed every single bite, the food was soooo beautiful! The staff are brilliant, so friendly and lovely, every member, especially the receptionist, bar staff and manager! … the gentleman who makes cocktails definitely deserves a pay rise! He’s brilliant! We really enjoyed our stay, our room is lovely and we couldn’t have asked for any more. Booked for a very rare couples get away for my partners birthday, and we’re really enjoying and would definitely come back! I understand some people have said it’s quite pricey, understandable but you get your moneys worth 😀 thanks so much all! Hopefully see you soon ❤️ The Cardiff couple x

Was gifted a £250 voucher for Xmas 2023, believe it or not but we have been trying to redeem this since then. Nobody answers the phones, email or replies to social media. We have given up and thankfully the bank have refunded the voucher. Looking at reviews I think it may have been a blessing in disguise as it sounds as if the place is on its last legs looking at reviews and social media comments. Would much rather spend the money with a company that can be bothered with its customers…not sure they will be around for much longer…

This place has sadly lost its sparkle and appeal which is sad as this was somewhere we loved going for events and weekends. The NYE party was poorly planned with a 40-50 minute wait for drinks, there were less acts, the buffet being moved really made no sense to carry the food through and then people line and over crowd over people tables. Breakfast was cold and despite previously paying for the continental option this was not laid out and had to be ordered which the waiter was not pleased with and after asking for a couple of slices of toast each for 2 of us were handed 1 cold slice between us so we gave up and left! Rooms are dirty with cobwebs visible and the whole place looks like it needs a good deep clean. Rooms have coffee machine with fresh milk left standing in a warm room and only decaf coffee available nothing more. Such a shame as this place used to have that special feel but now it’s just disappointing and after multiple events and trips here we really don’t think we will return again
