Hotel Residens Møen

Visiting Denmark I was sceptical, I saw the amazing reputation for the area and the hotel. I was very pleasantly surprised with the friendliness of staff and stunning views. Will most definitely return with family again, great experience!

Lovely hotel in what is otherwise a rather quiet and seemingly run down town. Restaurant was great but probably good idea to prebook their dinner deal than pay for the à la carte menu. Room was very comfortable and there were facilities to make coffee or even cook a meal. The view was amazing and the staff great. The only down side was the buffet breakfast where everything was presented separately in different dishes so the meal required around a dozen glass dishes! Finally, it’s worth trying to book directly with the hotel to get the best deal rather than *********** as we did 🙁

Residens Moen is (mostly) an apart hotel, with rooms set around a central courtyard, located about 5 minutes walk from town and adjacent to the harbour. Opposite the hotel is a short public pier with steps for swimmers to access the shallow waters nearby. The hotel caters primarily for the families, perhaps staying on Møn for a vacation. Bedrooms are simple, clean, simply furnished (in the Scandinavian style) with basic catering facilities in the room, or in an adjacent kitchen (for the smaller double rooms). The staff were generally friendly and helpful, accommodating all reasonable requests, with most employees speaking excellent English. Breakfast (not included in price) was a simple buffet arrangement in the main dining area, and reservations were necessary. The major difficulty is the bedroom heating system which, according to staff, cannot be turned off. Being supplied from a local warm water plant, there is no control over room temperature, despite the presence of thermostats on radiators. The only solution is to open windows, which are to street level on the ground floor at the rear of the hotel. Coupled with the presence of mosquitos each evening, the open windows and room lighting were a temptation to be bitten regularly. If travelling in the summer, prepare for the heat, and take bug spray at all times. Being a small hotel, the reception is not staffed at all hours. Unfortunately during our stay, the key cards were repeatedly defective, making it very hard to enter one's room when returning after 10pm. We will return for sure, but preferably not in midsummer.

Our reservation was cancelled by Hotel Residens Møen 20 minutes before our check-in. We had booked our room to celebrate my 30th birthday and were very disappointed. No other room was available. We did ask for a compensation but the hotel declined, even though they did admit the fault was fully theirs because of a double reservation. Very disappointing and we are not happy with the service of this hotel.

Enjoyed our 1-night stay in Jan’22. Spacious apartment which is perfect when you have young children, good value for money. Welcomed by friendly front desk staff and good service for little extras we asked for. Nice breakfast with a beautiful sea view. We could stay here again.

Clean and spacious room with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Free parking and Wi-Fi are also provided. It's close to the center of the town, where you can find plenty of lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. There are two supermarkets within walking distance, so you can buy fresh fruits, veggies and dairy products and enjoy them in your hotel room. We stayed only for one night, but it's too short! We'll definitely come back. Only one thing - the pipe by the window in the sitting room was always hot, and we didn't know how to shut down the heat. The room temperature was comfortable enough during our stay, so we didn't ask the reception about it though.
