Quite and comfortable hotel with parking, several restaurants and a winery near it. Swimming pool is rather small (it is only one minor minus of this hotel), breakfast is varied, coffee is tasty. You need a car to go somewhere because we didn-t see any public transport there. But in SA it is a normal practice to explore Cape Town by car.

The hotel has a good view, but it is too big. It is a small villa. It is a bit far from the room to the hotel restaurant. The room is quite clean, but the lighting is dim, which is not conducive for women who need to put on makeup.

Great hotel with spacious rooms, pool and a very well equipped fitness room. Great staff. It is located in a beautiful wine district and close to a golf course. If you are not a wine and/or golf enthusiast the hotel feels a bit in the middle of nowhere. You should have access to a car if you choose to stay here.

PH Stellenbosch, over many years, has never failed to satisfy! A fantastic location with incredible views makes this etablishement unique, indeed. Overall, the facilities are great with the rooms, especially, spacious and clean. Above all, Ph Stellenbosch offers scrumptious meals served by ever-attentive staff. In fact, ALL the staff are highly motivated, courteous and helpful. You just can't help going back!!

That was more a hostel than a hotel of the Marriott Bonvoy group. Really disappointed. The front office team was a kinda rude, instead of getting a warm welcoming and an introoduction about the hotel they just put the card machine in front of you to pay. As an ambassador you normally get an upgrade to suite, not at Protea Stellenbosch. The only thing they offered as an old bigger guest room, not acceptable at all. Even if the hotel is fully booked, someone should get back to you at the next day and check the options again, not professional at all. At the breakfast they offer some cheap range of cold cuts and cold boiled eggs. (Egg station is avaiable as well if you wanna wait 10 minutes in the line). Staff doesnt pay attention at all if you wanna order a fresh coffee, thats different in other protea hotels, for example the fire and ice and cape town. The pool bar was closed and the pool was not clean, a No Go if you offer those services. The bar should be opened until 10:30 PM but the waiters wanna close already at 10:10 PM. Overall lazy staff and a real bad management neither in F and B or FO department.

Stayed for 7-days Business over Dec 24 & Jan 25 The room: Old dated, small and not modern as advertised. ❎ Spectacular views of the mountains.✅ Better hotels for same price around. ❎ Very loud extractor fan in the small bathroom and very small shower.❎ At 14:30 my room was still not turned over.❎ Swimming pool: No character. It’s just a hole with water. Old plastic loungers.❎ “Die Wingerd” restaurant: All evenings I tried different starters & mains and most were not bad. ✅ One evening I ordered the Chicken & Prawn Curry. No prawns in sight…. Not even one! When I asked about it, they have forgotten to add it!❎ The bar: Bar has no personality. Just a place to get a drink.❎ “The Cultivar” Restaurant (for morning breakfast): Unbelievable breakfast buffet and the most modern area of the hotel.✅ Room service: As I arrived late on the first day, I decided to get room service. I ordered pork ribs. It definitely was not pork, but beef ribs. Staff really friendly.✅ Very “dead” hotel with no “atmosphere”. Nothing happening here and this was over New Year!❎ Although not terrible, I would rather recommend other hotels in the area at the same rate.❎

Great setting close to Stellenbosch and the wine route. But, the staff are less than average. I called ahead saying it was my anniversary and agreed with guest relations that they will put a bottle of MCC and some other sweats in the room, nothing! I arrived at the hotel and the staff seemed to be on training. They had to ask each other what to do. At breakfast the food was a good selection, but the staff really didn’t look like they wanted to be there. They clearly don’t know that the reason they are there and employed is because they have patrons. Without patrons, there is no need for them to be employed. We had to find our own room, figure out where to have breakfast and how the wifi works. Not difficult, but it is expected that reception will share this information on checking. Never told us at reception. Location is very convenient and booking the Executive Suite makes sense as they are sizable and have great views of the winelands and the mountains.

Staff at this property consistently exceeds expectations - Duty Manager: Leroy ensured another memorable stay - Hyron at reception exhausted all avenues to make our stay exceptional - The views are picturesque, the ambiance great - all room types are larger than the average hotelrooms - We stayed in an executive room with breathtaking mountain views - A must stay for atleast 3 nights - Will keep returning.
