We had a wonderful stay at Batavia Boutique Hotel from the time we arrived and were welcomed by Temba . The location of the hotel is super - in a quiet street, but within walking distance of restaurants, shops and the Stellenbosch Museum . ( well worth a visit!). The decor in the hotel and in our room is really lovely, as is all the furniture and crockery and cutlery. The staff, and a special mention goes to Temba, are so friendly, helpful and professional. The breakfast are scrumptious . We will definitely stay there the next time we are in Stellenbosch and would highly recommend Batavia Boutique Hotel.

A lovely experience in a small, family run hotel. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we were treated like royalty. The owner was helpful and suggested and booked many trips for us. Quaint, colonial decor with lovely China crockery - a change from huge cups and everyday plates. Excellent choice of breakfast it's with hot food cooked to order. Lovely pool areas. A gem of a hotel in the heart of Stellenbosh. I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel with great staff (thank you Temba) and a super convenient location. Room was very comfortable, we loved all the decor and the breakfast was excellent. Couldn't have asked for more and have recommended to others thinking of visiting Stellenbosch.

Batavia Hotel has the 3 most important traits a successful Hotel should have: location, location, location. Mr Tembel the multi tasking team member works 24 ours a day, always in a good mood and very helpful.

I’ve never been insulted by a receptionist telling me that they “gave me a welcome letter” with a code whilst trying to work out how exit the property. Zero information given on how to enter access the property and a parking gate that doesn’t open. I had to tell the receptionist that this was a 5 star ( supposed) hotel and not a holiday Inn after he yelled at me 3 times saying he gave me welcome letter with a code. I’m a frequent visitor to Stellenbosch and will never stay here again.

Unfortunately, what was a pleasant stay was spoiled by the hotel vastly overcharging us for a taxi service which we had previously agreed a price with them. We did not discover the overcharge until a week after we left as they hadn’t emailed the receipt to us as promised. It is now evident why they didn’t. On contacting them when this was discovered they lied and said they provided a more expensive service which meant the driver waited outside the venue for us. We provided proof of phone calls made to the driver to come pick us up for the return journey but this has been ignored. We dont understand why they would opt for a bad review for an extra 700 rand, but obviously dont care about their reputation. I would not recommend this hotel as they have proved to be untrustworthy.

Stayed here recently with a group of friends….what a great find in a great location ! We were allocated 3 rooms in a wing on our own, each room with its own bath and shower plus a separate w.c. There was a separate lounge and kitchen in this wing and it was like a home from home. This hotel is like stepping back in time with fantastic furniture, lighting, antiques and lovely furniture throughout. Breakfast is served near receptions and was plentiful with cereals, juices and breakfast cooked to perfection with choice of eggs etc. The staff we met were so polite and nothing was too much trouble for which we were very grateful. Access is gained from the street with a code on the metal gates. The whole premises were spotlessly clean and the two small pool areas were welcome after a hot day out visiting the town of Stellenbosch. The hotel is located a very short walk from the town centre and we felt completely safe at all times. Thank you to the staff for making our stay very special !

We really enjoyed the stay at the Batavia Boutique Hotel. Rooms were clean, friendly assistance. The location was amazing, close to Stellenbosch Central and we could walk to and from safely.
