Lovely gardens for a summer lunch. The grounds are beautiful and well tended. Lovely extensive menu that offer small plates as well as larger mains. Thouroughly enjoyed the small haddock and chips which came with a small pot of mushy peas and a small pot of tartare sauce. The batter was lovely and crispy and didn’t taste fatty at all, equally the chips. My friend had the burger, which was a tower filled with lettuce, tomato and slaw to accompany the burger. She was a little disappointed the slaw was a meagre offering in the burger rather than a more substantial side.

The steak was neither seared, thick enough to be tender and was 30% optimistically meat the rest being gristle and fat. No wonder they provide a Bowie knife to cut it. service was snaillike, we were told we had to vacate the table by 8 o’clock..

Booked a room for much needed tranquility, peace and views of beatiful Dedham Vale. Was given room with view of building site complete with builders in hard hats and sound of banging, drilling, clanking and a huge iron fence with industrial green and orange netting on what was supposed to be the terrace. This is certainly not what was shown on the website. We weren't told about this on booking. We were given a less luxurious room, with no discount. Very disappointed. Just be honest if you've got the builders in.

We have been visiting this pub over the years when in the area on Sundays for dinner. It remains hugely popular with its attractive village location, very friendly staff and always good food and service. However, it was noticed that the standards of cleanliness were not up to standard. We had a sticky table that had not been cleaned thoroughly particularly around the edges and the disposable paper bin in the ladies was overflowing just as examples.

We stay here whenever we can on our way to East Anglia. It's a few minutes off the A12. Wonderful rooms in the modern purpose-built annexe. Very quiet. Very comfortable. Great food, friendly staff, excellent beer. There's a shaded terrace for al fresco dining and plenty of room in both the pub and dining room. Great breakfast. Good dinner, bed and breakfast deals, especially on a Sunday night.

We are lucky enough to stay at this hotel on business The rooms are beautiful. So comfy and lovely toiletries (in big bottles you leave in room but can buy) The food is fantastic. Great menu , fresh local produce. The garden is so well cared for. Think his name is George who looks after it. To sit in their garden is like sitting in a bit of paradise

Beautifully decorated building with very friendly staff. We met with family for Sunday lunch and had to wait 1hr 45 minutes for our food to arrive, TOTALLY unacceptable. If the kitchen can't cope with a full restaurant then they should not book out all their tables. Heaven only knows what happens in summer when they add the garden tables ! If we hadn't been staying the night we would have walked out. Frustratingly we were offered no apology or recompense even paying £4 per portion of bread to stave off our hunger ! We were upgraded our room because their building works had encroached onto it, however we were still woken at 8am by the noise if the builders, not what anyone wants when retreating to the country overnight, not were we forewarned that building was being carried out upon booking. Disappointing stay. Naturally nobody asked if we had a nice stay when we left. What a shame all round as the venue is lovely.

Went there 22nd of february a table for ten my my 70th birthday .Been in hundreds of restaurants in my life but this was one of the worse . we were presented with the very limited menu and approched three times in two minutes asking if we could hurry up and order as the chef was waiting to go home . this was at 7 pm!!!! after being badgered to hurry up we were presented with sub standard food .My three inch square of wafer thin steak looked lost sitting on its own. and when i asked if anything accompanied it i was presented with a dozen mcdonald like fries 15 mins later after the steak was cold . i asked if they did a side salad and was then brought a small bowl of just iceberg lettuce!!!!!!! My family didnt fare any better either . Thank god my son brought a birthday cake in of we would all have left hungry and dissapointed .. Ten tiny inadequate dinners ,and i use the word dinners loosely for £ 300.No wonder the chef wanted to get home quick before the complaints started rolling in.No one complained as they did not want to spoil my birthday surprise but it was outrageous and i dont know how they get away with it.Give it a wide berth .i saw it got good reviews.. Who by i wonder? People who have never eaten out before. I could have been worse i guess if it hadnt been my 70 th birthday and been my 90th it could have been my last supper
