Lost & Found Zanzibar

The vile lady who runs this hostel physically assaulted me. I had given my laundry in the morning, and was told it would take 24 hours. It still wasn’t ready 24 hours later, so I was waiting in my room. When it did come back, it wasn’t properly clean, and it was also wet and smelled mouldy (like it had been sitting in a wet pile since the wash). I therefore said to the lady I didn’t think the full price was fair, and she immediately was extremely extremely rude and aggressive. There was no opportunity to have a constructive conversation with her, even when I explained it wasn’t really fair to pay full price as I’d need to have my washing done elsewhere. Her best offer was a 5000 discount, but given the state of the problem I still didn’t feel paying 25000 for a small laundry load was fair and so walked back to my room to pack up my things and resolve it hopefully with another member of staff.When I came back down stairs with my bag, this lady ran up to me and physically grabbed me screaming at me. The situation was so bad that strangers were coming in from the street telling her to let go of me and trying to intervene. I’ve never ever in my life experienced something like this and will file police report when I return to stone town. I cannot wholeheartedly recommend enough that nobody ever ever stays here.

Everything was exceptional.. Staff were amazing.. Wifi was great excellent.. Location was the best.. The hotel was very clean and tidy.. I had the chance to know many people from different places and I was never alone and made very good company that made my trip the beat trip ever…

I recently stayed at this amazing hostel and it exceeded all my expectations! The meals were not only delicious but also diverse, catering to various tastes. I am truly surprised by all the positive reviews and would never recommend the place. Pricing is not accurate on *********** as they charge four times as much as „tax fees“ when arriving, amendments are terribly dirty and location is super loud by night. I was just happy to leave. We raised the points to the staff who was not necessarily unfriendly but also not very helpful.

Amazing time at Lost and Found. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable with good privacy. Would definitely go again if I’m in Zanzibar!! Very central location as well which makes it very easy to explore Stone town and its various attractions. It is also directly opposite the Freddy Mercury museum!!!

My husband and I absolutely loved this hostel. It is in a brilliant central location and the staff are super friendly. The showers are hot and everywhere is cleaned regularly. Best of all for us where the very comfy double beds in the mixed dorm. The decor is basic but that doesn’t matter much to us. Would definitely recommend to travellers on a budget.
