My friends and I spent 3 days in the charming and cozy "Hideaway" lakeside cottage. The Location: Situated in the middle of a working vineyard on the shore of a tranquil small lake filled with ducks, coots and water hens, it was the perfect base to explore the Barossa. The Stonewell Cottages are just a few minutes from the famous Seppeltsfield Road and the heart of Barossa. There are countless cellar doors within 5-15 mins drive and several fine dining options like Fino, Appellation, 1918, and Maggie Beer's. The Cottage The Hideaway is a 2 room, 1 bathroom (separate WC and shower/bath) cottage with a very well equipped kitchen (with washer/dryer combo), dining table, sofa area and fireplace. It can easily accommodate 2 couples as long as you're all very comfortable with one another and can manage the bathroom situation. The beds were VERY comfortable and L'Occitaine bath accessories were provided. The fire supplies were restocked daily and there was a combo heater/AC in the main room. There were generous outdoor spaces including lounges, fire pit, BBQ, and a lounge deck located right on the lake shore. However it was mid winter so we didn't take full advantage of these. The kitchen was WELL stocked for brekkie with locally sourced food provisions including tomatoes, bread, eggs, yogurt, milk, orange juice and bacon. There are two towns within and easy 10-15 minute drive if you need additional provisions. Our hosts were very responsive and we really appreciated their attention to detail, such as high quality bedding, welcome basket that included a nice bottle of local Shiraz, generous breakfast provisions plus food for the ducks! We would definitely stay at Stonewell cottages again (and are already plotting our next Barossa agenda) One note: if you're planning to work remotely and if internet access is an absolute necessity, be sure to bring your own backup hotspot as we had difficulty connecting throughout our 3 night stay (mobile coverage was 100% in the cottage and not an issue). Our hosts explained that the telco is currently doing work that is impacting internet reliability so you may want to double check that this has been completed when you book.

If you’re on the fence about this property, just do it - you won’t regret it. If you like charming, clean and quiet accommodation, this is it. Lots of outdoor space to relax - BBQ worked well (we recommend the BBQ basket - we got two meals out of it). Lots of breakfast goodies - more than you’ll eat! The port and the bottle of wine were a nice touch. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom nicely appointed - fluffy white towels and bathrobes. Tina was a dream to work with - she arranged e-bikes for us (we highly recommend this as a fun activity) - and she even did pick up and drop off for us on the day we did the Hentley Farms tasting menu for lunch (see separate review on this outstanding experience). Thank you for helping to make our time in Barossa a memorable one, Tina!

This perfect Cupids Cottage was just the getaway for my partner and I to have time together in a perfect romantic gorgeous place. Tina had it stocked with everything , from a gorgeous breakfast with choices of eggs, bacon , mushrooms etc to muesli, porridge, yogurt I could not fault anything and she even accommodated my GF intolerance 😍 I can’t wait to return . The setting just so idyllic by our own little lake with ducks, turtle, birds ..It was so sad to leave but really looking forward to rebooking when a spare weekend next arrives 🙏 Thank you Tina again , your hospitality and the little touches inside the cottage were very appreciated and it’s something you don’t see everywhere 🥰 Maria and Simon xx

Wonderful setting, so peaceful. Lovely views over the lake or the vines. We chose a package for two days that provided many extras. The cottage is charming and well appointed with many welcome extras. It is most comfortable with WiFi and Netflix and a huge spa bath. The foods provided with the package were generous and delicious. Breakfast provisions, a BBQ platter, fruits, salads and a goodies basket. There is a selection of wines to purchase if you have not BYO. I would not hesitate to recommend. The location is within easy distance to wineries and gin tastings.

Stonewell Cottages & Vineyards is a highly recommended place to stay for those seeking a central location to explore everything the Barossa Valley has to offer. Just a few minutes from some fabulous wineries and the beautiful town of Tanunda. The cottage hosts go to all lengths to ensure a memorable stay. These beautiful and really well appointed cottages sit right on the banks of the property's lake, with abundant bird life in situ.

We had the pleasure of staying at ‘Cupids Cottage’ a truly delightful old world experience but with all the luxury add ons one requires for a luxe escape. The hosts Tina & Evan have thought of everything and have been a pleasure to deal with. On arrival the cottage was beautiful and welcoming with a platter of delicious treats waiting for us. We had asked for the optional extra of self cook BBQ pack for our first nites dinner. Not only was it extremely generous the quality of the food was exceptional. Our stay continued to delight and surprise us and the view across the lake was a delight each day. The cottage seems to be a short 10 minute drive to everything and we could not recommend a stay here more highly.

We could not recommend Stonewell cottages highly enough. We have stayed all around Australia and the world and have never felt so pampered or entirely looked after so well. Firstly, the Host has been a dream to deal with, even when I messed up parts of our booking the rectification was made super simple and made me feel valued. The Cottage itself is just beautiful, and my Wife as a health professional could not fault its cleanliness. The way the Cottage has been set up is perfect. Everything you could hope/wish for has been catered for – a fully equipped kitchen and BBQ, cosy couches, comfortable beds, an immaculate bathroom, and an amazing cellar to choose your fav wine from. An amazing personalised wine tour was planned for us, including a taste of a tawny port from our both years (what fun). If you are visiting the Barossa, you would be mad to stay anywhere else. This is a gem of a place – get on board!

What a fantastic experience we had. Fabulous cottage nestled amongst the vineyards. Fabulous breakfast goodies in the fridge for breakfast plus a bottle of complementary wine. Loved the chocolates by the bed and the fudge and cookies. Highly recommend this as a place to stay when in this region. So many good cellar doors to visit.
