Tigh Na Mara Hotel

This was a last minute Hogmanay trip my partner booked after my 15 year old dog died.I was not looking forward to it but boy I so,so had a great time. We got the last room(there are only 6),it was very clean and modern with a nice big bathroom.The bar is small but there is another part to it with a projector big screen which we didn't see so it could be bigger. The meal was fantastic,my partner had deep fried Camembert which was hot and freshly made,we had a bit to wait but it was super busy and the young waitress was very apologetic.The main courses were wonderful filler steak and a duck with home made chips.We didn't have dessert as too full.All the waiting staff were young but exceptionally polite and very,very good at their job so I hope they got a Christmas bonus. Neil(who I presume was the manager)came round all the tables making sure everything was ok.There was a live band until 1am who did a great job.Again Neil came round checking on things and waiting staff cleared tables promptly .Fireworks outside and Neil played the accordion,great atmosphere.What a great time everyone made it,you all went above and beyond. The breakfast which was included in the price was huge and delicious.

Stayed for just one night, nice, clean room with sea view, very comfortable bed. We dined in the restaurant, food and service were excellent. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I've eaten in a long time, very tasty, the black pudding was absolutely delicious. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and I would 100% recommend Tigh na Mara and will definitely be back. One tip for visitors, if you are travelling from the South, ignore Google maps and car sat navs, it directed us away from the main road , the A75 and sent us cross country and although the route was very scenic, it took a lot longer and I wouldn't like to drive that way in the dark so stay on the A75 to Stranraer. Midweek stay whilst travelling for business. Room clean, comfortable and had great WIFI Breakfast and evening meal really good quality. Friendly staff and fast service. Nothing to dislike, simple, but very well done. I will be booking next time I'm in the area.

My two friends and I stayed at the hotel last night. It is awesome! The rooms, the food, the drinks, the service, the staff, the locals and other guests were all fantastic! Can’t fault it at all! So helpful and welcoming! We can’t wait to get booked in to come back! Great place and so accessible to some of the most beautiful parts of the country!

At the Tig tonight, meal was excellent, service excellent, duck cooked perfectly highly recommend. Friendly wee cat joined us highly recommend. Lovely beer garden and take away service is good to well worth a visit whether local or a visitor

Well what a place the Tig is!! We were staying at the sands of Luce for a week and headed into the lovely town Sandhead, a lot of people had recommended that we check out the Tig for dinner and wow it did not disappoint!!! There was 8 of us which included my two kids. The menu was brilliant! Plenty of choice and the drinks selection was also great aswell, the staff (I wish I had asked there names) were so lovely and took the time to speak to my kids aswell which I always appreciate. Everything was 10/10 we will Be back!! Thanks to all
