We have just come back from a 2 night stay at the Amberley Inn. What a lovely stay we had we were greeted and looked after by Skye as we arrived, and on the first night in the bar and restaurant, all other staff were equally attentive. Delicious 3 course meal with wine, Perfect breakfast in the morning served by Jennifer who looked after a busy breakfast room wonderfully, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff this day too. We went to a wedding on the second night. But had another great breakfast on our last day. Rooms were lovely and clean, staff all amazing I just only took 2 names sorry to everyone else. Food was just amazing too. Can’t wait to return thank you amberley inn!

We’ve just returned from a beautiful stay at the traditional amberley inn. The beer and wine selection in the bar was diverse and well kept- always a great start! . Our room was a premium room which whilst pricey over the weekends in comparison to other places we looked at in the Cotswolds we thought was very reasonable for the price. Staff were all very pleasant and a joy to help in any way they could. Both breakfast and dinner were cooked to order, fresh and well made. It was nice to see so much care! We will definitely return and take advantage of some of the lower room rates in the week when it’s less busy- the joys of retirement!

Second time we have stayed here, stayed in a cottage room again. Lovely friendly staff. Thanks to Cath for quiz night which we thoroughly enjoyed and for chatting to us as we propped the bar up . The breakfast room was lovely as was the breakfast. Good views and walks straight out of the door. I have serious allergy problems and find it very hard to have holidays but the Amberley Inn are very understanding and accommodating to my needs which I am very grateful for.

We stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting family. We booked a classic double room so we weren’t expecting it to be amazing but we were so disappointed with the room, which looked nothing like the ones shown on the website. The website says the rooms are newly refurbished, but ours definitely wasn’t. It was very dated and tired looking, which I could forgive if it was clean, but unfortunately it wasn’t. The building is lovely from the outside and downstairs the restaurant looked good, but our room (5) just wasn’t good enough after the image that’s portrayed on the website. The room was tiny with only one bedside table, there was no wardrobe, it didn’t smell very nice, the carpet looked filthy with stains and general dirt, there were cobwebs and spiders in every corner, the bathroom floor hadn’t been cleaned, there were stains on the pillow case and the milk was out of date. The bathroom was even worse with black mould, a cracked window, a really bad smell from the drains, a child’s toilet seat even though the room clearly wouldn’t be used for a family, the towel radiator didn’t work, and the water pressure and temperature were all over the place. It’s such a shame because we wanted it to be good and the people working here were nice, but the room needs completely redoing with a deep clean. The dining room downstairs is nice, and the breakfast in the morning was pretty good, which is what the 2 stars are for.

My room was badly in need of investment and to be honest should probably not be used. It had a bad damp smell even with the window open 24/7, there was green algae all along the shower screen, mould and rust around the bathroom tiles and window, the kettle didn’t work unless you held it down, the carpet was dirty and there was nowhere but the floor to open your case. Bad trunking and a random cable hanging outside the window obscuring the view could easily be remedied. Apart from this, the food was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good staff and food are often hard to come by in a hospitality industry still recovering from a challenging few years so with these key ingredients plus an injection of investment into the rooms could turn this tired hotel into a lovely Cotswold retreat.

Excellent accommodation with every thing you could want, we had a walk-in shower as requested. The restaurant menu was a treat and we especially enjoyed the fresh Ling from Brixham. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is stunning with views over the Cotswolds.

We were allocated a room (23) in the cottage to the rear of the Inn. We were shocked when we walked in. The room was small and very shabbily furnished. The bathroom was shocking; truly a throwback to a different era, with no separate shower. To add insult to injury, the bath tap shower attachment had derisory pressure. My wife immediately went back to reception to complain, but no other rooms were available and the owners were nowhere to be seen. A request for a discount or refund fell on deaf ears. I would have been unhappy with a room rate of £100 per night, let alone the £162 that we were charged. The only saving grace was the excellent breakfast and the service of the breakfast staff. Two of my friends were also allocated rooms in the cottage and were equally dissatisfied. This is without doubt one of the worst B & B experiences that we have had in the last 40 years.
