Had a week in the hotel, we arrived on the 19th Sept. First impressions was impressive, a nice looking hotel. And overall we wasnt let down.. the foyer was a huge area and very welcoming at the front desk. Onto the room (717) ,again overall very nice if not a little tired looking but put that down it was the end of season as it was closing down about a weeks time. Slept very well, bed super nice. The 3 pools and surrounding area was very good with a really nice pool bar, plenty of sun beds even some people still used to put towels on them earlyish.. The whole hotel was covered by 3 lots of wifi which was very good. Used the Sports bar in the Basement to watch a bit of football.. first time in a Hotel thats had a Sports bar.. lits of games covered at the same time.. Only negatives was most of the 'Hot Food' was only luke warm ..morning noon and evening (but was told thats how it is in Bulgaria) there is microwaves provided to heat your food up.. Taste wise.. the food was really good.. a good varied choice everyday..loved the different chicken tastes.. And another nit-pick was the staff wasnt over friendly with the guests, defo not rude at all, far from it.. just there to do a job and did it efficently, other than Halil and Tanya in the main Hotel Bar, had loads of interaction with them.. like i said probably nit-picking on a lovely relaxng holiday in a very nice hotel..

Terrible. Avoid this hotel like the plague. Dated rooms. Staff very rude and unhelpful. Food nice but not a huge variety and the same food night after night. Room service HAHA. We made our own beds. No bedding change all week. We had to ask for toilet rolls. All inclusive but we had to buy bottled water. Big joke. Drinks were all inclusive but water wasn't on the all inclusive package..

We chose the Royal Barcelo for its 5 stars, we knew that Bulgarian rating system is different to other countries but thought they would have extras that differed from their local competition. How wrong we were. We got to the hotel at 1am, got given a sandwich bag which albeit a nice touch, that's where the niceties ended. At 1am we just wanted to freshen up and to get into bed. The shower door would not close, the drains were almost completely blocked and the water was leaking out of the door that wouldn't close. After paddling around, I used the toilet where the flush was jammed on and a continuous stream of water was hitting the bottom of the toilet creating a very loud waterfall. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did when I got into bed, the mattress or bedframe had absolutely zero support, I sunk and almost rolled out of bed. I had to sleep on my wife's side of the bed until I could mention it to reception staff the following morning. We did this first thing in the morning where the receptionist noted down our issues on a piece of paper and we thought we'd give them the benefit of the day and went by the pool. Came back at the end of the day, the toilet had stopped gushing but the bed remained the same, no mattress changed. However bizarrely, whoever came to our room left a toy car on my side of the bed and an old dusty aloe Vera bottle and a luigi keyring on my wife's side. We contacted Jet2 who told us to go visit the guest relations manager. As we did he greeted us with "oh, I thought it was an old couple coming to complain but you're young" (like that should make any difference!). He told us the flusher has been fixed, however it hadn't because it did the same thing again earlier in the day, and the bed frame slats were broke and it had been replaced. We requested a change of room but this was denied. The final straw came on the 2nd night where I was sick after a day of feeling unwell, possibly putting it down to either the stress of the beginning of our holiday, or the recycled food that had been put out for dinner that they also had out for lunch. This, along with the daggers we felt from the unfriendly and hostile staff made it clear we wanted to move hotels, which Jet2 arranged. We were quickly accepted the next morning to a nearby hotel. We went down to reception to check out and asked the receptionist to order us a taxi. The receptionist recognised our leaving date and asked why (even though he would've been told by Jet2 we'd be transferring) he asked us where we were going and told him the name of the hotel and without hesitation and with attitude "are you SURE you want to go THERE?" the answer was either there or home because the Barcelo is THAT bad. Other side notes, bottled water not all inclusive, refilling your own bottles is frowned upon, the pool is ridiculously freezing cold, the sports bar was not open once in the 3 2 days we stayed there and they didn't open the second restaurant either. We did sal

This is a good hotel in a good location. Rooms are spacious & clean with very comfortable beds. The pool area is lovely with plenty of sunbeds. Service at the bar is good with snacks from 12. The restaurant food is generally good with a wide choice of meals for lunch & dinner. I loved the salad bar & cheese selection. The only thing that could be improved is that often the main meals were not hot enough. If this could be improved then it would be 5 stars. It would not put me off staying again though. Only a few minutes to the main beach ***** & same to the main bars/flower street. We are out twice - La Flor was fantastic & would recommend.

We have just come to the end of our 10 night stay at this hotel our first visit to Bulgaria and although it's the end of season we have had a good time. The hotel is in a good spot for nearby beach and easy access to shops ,restaurants and bars. The food and drink at the hotel on a all inclusive package is good and plentiful. Sometimes the food wasn't very hot but there are microwaves to heat the food up. Staff on the whole were very nice and freindly. Staff that stood out the most to us where Halil and Tanya in the Lobby Bar who were always freindly and gave us service with a smile. Their Manager Parvel who looked after the bars and restaurant areas who was also very freindly towards us and made us feel welcome. And a big thank you to Dimitar and Todor who allowed us to keep our room on as we had a late check out. Overall our stay has been good and we are glad we chose this hotel as our first visit to Bulgaria 🇧🇬 😊

Management and staff just seem as if they don’t want to be there. We arrived late at night and went to our room to find the toilet wasn’t even bolted to the floor, which gave my wife a nice suprise when she sat down on it. We had a Mountain View room and the noise from the adjacent hotel was unbearable and went on until 2am during our first 2 nights. We asked to be moved and the hotel management were just so rude to my wife that we both just wanted to go home. The place is falling to bits ‘Faulty Towers on speed’. The food is bland and cold and we resorted to eating out some meals, not what you expect when you book a 5* AI. Shall not be returning. No daytime entertainment, just music playing for a couple of hours, pool looked lovely but absolutely freezing. Hotel is nowhere near the beach so think they need to rename it. I do have a few suggestions but probably wouldn’t get published. A disgrace to the Barcelo brand!!. One afternoon we were inundated with 100’s of staff as they had a team building day, surely this is something you do in the closed season when there’s no paying guests around. It has a Mall, but none of it was ever open so what’s the point. We only got our room cleaned once and that’s only because we went down to request it. Our advice is stay away.

We booked this holiday with jet2 and upgraded to a one bedroom apartment which was very large but in need of updating but in the whole 7 night stay not once was the room cleaned we had to go and ask for toilet role an clean towels on a few occasions I mentioned that the room had not been cleaned an still no one came to clean it . Most of the staff were generally nice however the girl with the red hair at the pool bar wasn’t I asked her for two drinks an she said something to an other bar tender an a man next to me (who turned out to be pool snack bar chef ) then the 3 off them looked me up and down an started laughing It felt very belittling to the point I wouldn’t go the bar again if she was there NOT very nice to treat a paying customer like that . Nasty piece of work she is .Restaurants where very nice and Modern how ever the food while it was nice was always cold there was a microwave but you really shouldn’t need to do that to heat your food up . Pools where absolutely freezing so couldn’t use them but they do look nice .

Having been to sunny beach 1992/2016 the place a been built up but still way out dated this is my honest view due to my observations arrived night time very good welcome from reception female very pleasant /tanya at bar very good at what she does/cleaning staff all worked hard room was big a clean bed/pillows comfortable no problems with food in my own opinion but speaking to other guest not the same three outside pools 1 indoor pool not used many times for being to cold waste of space my biggest problem with this hotel is the main managment dont understand that their negativity shows up all the faults with the hotel toda/dimitri need to address their own hospitality skills because all other staff show they dont care about holiday makers who they need to keep them in work at this hotel will never stay at this hotel again not impressed with management and staffing levels no leadership
