Beautifully decorated old house with lush grounds, lovely rooms, tempting pool and really incredible dining experience. Wished we were staying longer - there is plenty to do nearby. Staff were incredibly friendly and even washed our car during breakfast.

We had a short stay of 2 days at schoone ordt counrty house in Swellendam . It‘s a very beautiful Place, lot of Vintage Charme. Breakfast and Dinner was top notch, just delicious. The furniture and the style is just awesome. I‘d love to come back again.

Picture perfect accommodation in stunning gardens.The attention to detail is obvious from the rooms to the stupendous food.All the staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful.We stayed on two separate nights one of which was nearly my wife's birthday.We were put in the honeymoon suite and served a gorgeous cake.The owner arranged for us to visit the local township which is strongly recommended.Amazing experience.If I could give 10 out of 5 I would.Thank you.

We stayed in a Luxury Room. First the good stuff, the room was to die for, it had absolutely everything with lots of lovely touches including a jar of homemade biscotti, we had a little verandah also to sit outside of the room. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, lovely atmosphere and really good food. There were beautiful gardens with a swimming pool area & koi carp in the ornamental ponds. There was a secure car park for those who are self driving and our car was cleaned for when we left. Now sadly the negative stuff, we had read that we would be offered tea & scones on arrival and we were really looking forward to this quaint experience. We were indeed offered tea or coffee but also a beer or a glass of wine so we opted for the beer (as you do!) We didn't get the scones unfortunately and the two glasses of beer were on the bill at check out! The breakfast was absolutely huge and a bit OTT in our opinion, I felt very guilty not eating it all. We found the food and especially the drink prices very expensive at twice the price of our Cape Town hotel, which was very disappounting.

You can't miss this spot if you are going past Swellendam! Amazing rooms, great food and impeccable service. Alison and team will take care of all your needs. 3 course breakfast is to die for. Catered for our Halal dietary requirements. They even washed the car!

Beautiful establishment in a very safe town. Everything excellent. Food, room, surroundings, and staff. A wonderful 2 night stay. Made us feel special. I’m vegetarian and the food was delicious. Can’t wait to revisit. Thank you…. Alan & Sharon

An extremely pleasant stay in a beautifully restored country house. Made to feel so welcome by sincere and attentive staff and owners. Exceptional food and wine . We really appreciated log fire and hot water bottles. A definite must visit.

It is a delightful family-run hotel with an excellent culinary reputation and a wonderful friendly atmosphere. The country house is located in Swellendam, which is a lovely old town on the Garden Route in easy reach of the Winelands and Cape Agulhas. As well as accommodation in the beautifully-designed country house, there are delightful and spacious cottages in its grounds (in which we stayed on two occasions). The camaraderie surrounding the evening meals, when the guests eat together, is something special and we shall certainly return when next we are in South Africa.
