As one of the few newly opened five-star hotels in Taizhou, Crowne Plaza Taizhou chose to open at the end of 24 years, catching up with the peak tourist season of the Spring Festival in 25 years. The following is a brief evaluation from several aspects including hardware and software.
Geographical location: in the center of Taizhou city center. Located on the top floor of Taizhou Center, the tallest building in Taizhou city. Directly opposite is the MixC. There is also a Porsche Center on one side. You can enjoy the view of Taizhou city from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the hotel lobby.
Hotel hardware: Since it is a newly opened hotel at the end of 24, the equipment must be very new, and the decoration also meets the latest standards and trends of five-star hotels. However, compared with Hotel Indigo, which is also under IHG, Crowne Plaza's overall style is still too business-oriented. In terms of decoration style, it is relatively "hard". The hotel lobby is located on the 37th floor and the 38th floor is the executive lounge. But the top floor bar is not open yet.
As for the room facilities, we stayed in the Taizhou Impression Suite this time. The room layout is L-shaped. After entering, there is a rectangular living room with a guest bathroom, which is also the current trend and standard configuration of suites. Turn left to reach the guest rooms. Then there is the main bathroom with a bathtub.
The living room is equipped with a color TV as standard, but as a suite it does not have additional audio equipment, such as a subwoofer. The office area is large, which is a good thing. It also makes people feel that Crowne Plaza is more business-oriented. The freezer mini bar is in the living room, but when we checked in, we found it was locked. We had to tell the front desk before someone would open it, which was incredible. There is almost nothing wrong with the equipment in the bedroom. However, as a suite, it is not equipped with more user-friendly desktop speakers or aromatherapy machines, so there is still room for improvement.
As for the bathroom, there is a long washbasin, but it always feels too narrow and long. The hair dryer is not a Dyson, but a small domestic brand, which is not high-end enough. The sanitary ware is of American standard, and there is still a gap in grade compared with the current mainstream five-star brands such as Kohler, TOTO or the more upscale Villeroy & Boch. The bath amenities are good, they are of Borghese brand. The actual scent and texture are nice too. The toothpaste is Colgate and the toothbrush experience is just so-so. As a standard room it is good enough, but as a suite it would be better if it could be upgraded to a higher level.
The hotel breakfast starts at 7 o'clock. The variety is still rich. There are many types of noodles and they taste pretty good. The juice is not fresh, nor is it pure juice, this needs to be improved. I don't know if it was because of the festival, but the tablecloths were basically put down without being washed, which is not right for a five-star hotel. This must be improved.
Let me also talk about the executive lounge. The environment and decoration are excellent, grand and modern. But the afternoon tea only had two kinds of biscuits and a few nuts, which was better than nothing. The beverage selection is also very limited. As for the afternoon tea time in the executive lounge, it is lacking. At least some cake and fruit should be provided. As for the happy hour during dinner, the drinks are fine. The beer available is Corona, Heineken and Tsingtao, as well as some other foreign liquors. There are enough hot dishes and fruit cakes, and the quality is acceptable, so the Happy Hour is worthy of the standard of the executive lounge. Afternoon tea must be improved.
Finally, let me talk about the room service. Rebecca at the front desk was very nice and handled customer issues promptly and on point, so she deserves praise.
Overall, there are no major problems with the hardware of this Crowne Plaza, but there is still room for improvement in some details.
