Mohua Motels

I stayed in the beautiful spa suite as all the studio rooms were booked out which the owner kindly gave to me for a discounted price. The bed was so comfortable, the balcony faced the mountains beside rural fields and the service was outstanding. I fully recommend treating yourself to the luxury of staying at this super clean and comfortable place.

The Mohua Motels team understand the complete customer experience. My positive experience started with the check-in. Nirmul and Catherine (I hope I spelled their names correctly) worked to ensure I had the quiet room I requested. Next, there was a last check before I entered the room to ensure it met the motel standards. Then there was the offer to help me with my bags. How many motels does that happen at? The room was spotless, everything was up to date, a firm mattress and even an ethernet cable. I loved the plunger coffee, the bottle of fresh milk and the hot chocolate. I was treated like a family member - the kind of family that is totally helpful without being intrusive. The motel is just a short walk from a large FreshChoice supermarket and multiple very good restaurants. Tip for ice cream lovers - try the ice cream at Golden Fresh Fruit Ice Cream on the main road! Highly recommend this motel for others. You deserve this type of attention and standards while traveling. Added bonus was the lovely sunset I witnessed from the motel's courtyard!

What a hidden gem! Immaculately clean & little decorative touches that upped the stay. Amazingly comfy bed. It has everything you need. Super friendly staff too! My only complaint was I couldn't spend another night there! Highly recommend!

This visit was my first time to Takaka, and I was pleased to stay at the Mohua Motel. Everything appeared new and clean, and the view over the paddock toward the hills was relaxing. I stepped outside to find a pair of cows quietly grazing over the fence, barely two metres from my balcony. The rooms were an adequate size with a good bathroom and shower. The heat pump was very effective at cooling and heating. The "Roots Bar" is popular with the locals and is only a three-minute walk from Mohua Motel. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Mohua is excellent value, and I recommend it to all travellers.

Loved This Motel. Management was exceptional, nothing a bother,our room was super clean, modern bathroom and very good quality body washes, shampoos and conditioner provided. Loved the Fair Trade beverages on offer. The heat pump kept us warm, the beds were comfortable. We will definitely choose this Motel over the others on our next visit to Golden Bay
