Ryokan Warabino

This Ryokan is set in the most beautiful landscape. It’s a bit far from Nagano station, so you would probably be better off renting a car if you are comfortable driving in Japan. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful (I speak no Japanese except for greetings and “thank you very much”) The meals were fantastic! The spread at breakfast and dinner was really impressive, filled with delicious fish, meats, egg, rice, pickled things, stews/soups and really fresh fruit. I think most—if not all—of the food was locally sourced, which also usually included an element of apple which was really interesting (this region has apple orchards EVERYWHERE, even more than I’ve seen where I’m from in New York). You can also order beer, sake, alcohol free beer or soft drinks with the dinners. (we had 3 dinners/3 breakfasts during our stay) I would definitely recommend this Ryokan for its private Onsens (hot baths). There are 3 separate Onsens that are completely private which was great because 3 of us in the group have tattoos and that wasn’t an issue here at all. Also, 2 of the onsen baths are outdoors which was great in the October cool air. Plan ahead for some excursions to the mountains for skiing, hiking, hot springs, snow monkey areas, or visit the national parks.

It is the first use. The woman who checks in is worried without a smile. The room is away and stays with the Tsukimi edge of the Japanese style room. The door at the entrance did not meet the room grade, but it was a pity, but it was very spacious and clean and impressive. Amenities are normal. The towels were packed two pieces. Originally, it seems to be equipped with a large bath. The cosmetics in the room were prepared with a type of mixer. There is no hot spring with a room, and the public bath that worried about congestion is not so big, but it was used three times, but there was no congestion. The meal is in the hall. 6 sets separated by a large place. The group that was noisy was not so uncomfortable, but it is a negative point that it is not a private room at a reasonable accommodation cost. Is it not possible to do it if it is not a private room confirmation plan? But the man in charge felt good and when I told the schedule of the next day, I had the material the next day. There was also a printed one from a personal computer and I was grateful. The meal was also a passing point for us. The ponpon pot was also lighter and delicious until the last sukiyaki. The soba between the two was delicious. It was a satisfactory stay except for the response of the woman at check-in and the place of meal. It seems that the scenery is also enjoyable depending on the season.

When I arrived at the scenery hall while looking at the famous inn that gave up from Obushi to Yamada Onsen by free transfer bus for budget convenience, I felt honestly dark. I felt like I was older and inferior to other inns. I was guided to the room and immediately said rude things like ”let's make another inn next time” with my friend. However, when I took the bus again for one night, I changed to ”I want to come again soon! I don't want to stay at the landscape museum”. First of all, when I said that my leg was bad at the time of booking, I was able to set a table and chair in the room with a bed and the room in front of it to eat, but thanks to the consideration, there was no inconvenience We had a comfortable stay. The hot water was good and the facilities were clean even if they were old. The food was delicious and the number of items was about this, so I left it. The breakfast was also substantial and I was surprised. Curry in the morning is perfect for the morning. The small counter, which was stuck by the window of the room, became a bar counter for us who were drinking, and we had a fantastic night watching the snowstorm valley. But what was better than anything was the hospitality of the inn 々 including the mother. It is rare in a luxury inn to receive the sincere hospitality that has been so thorough. The next inn was decided to be kofushi, so I tried to come back on the next day, but it was a pity that it was not possible to realize it on the closing day. Ofushi was fun, but I think I will stay at the scenery hall and go to Ofushi next time.

Homestay like staying with family. The hosts are a lovely elderly couple that took wonderfully care of us. The house is old, the facilities basic but clean. The bath/ shower is in their part of the house. The breakfast was the best we had so far! The location is a bit of the grid, but their is a restaurant close by
