Palm Grove

I finally had the pleasure of staying at Palm Grove Resort after many years of recommending it to clients. The experience did not disappoint as all my expectations were met. We stayed in the three bedroom beach villa. The kitchen was well equipped with everything that you need to take care of your own meals and there was ample space for the 6 of us. The kids (5 and 3) enjoyed the beach, and we all agreed it was the best beach on the whole island. There were many hours also spent in the small pool set back in the garden on the other side of the road. One thing that struck me in talking to other guests is this is a place that guests return to year on year. One guest commenting "it feels like coming home." It's important to set realistic expectations. Yes, there is paint chipping and yes, the furniture is a little dated however the resort is scheduled for a renovation at the end of 2025 so it will be nice to see it freshened up. Look past the paint chips and you will find a comfortable, clean and affordable place to enjoy the sun and sand.

A lovely spot. beds and pillows are comfy. Pool is very nice. Centrally located with a 24 store just own the road. Front desk is very helpful with vodefone and trips and tours Breakfast is simple, cereal, toast, cakes and yogurt and fruit, scones were very good, coffee tea and juice. There is a restaurant on site, and bus stops just out front. A bus pass is 35.00 for 10 rides. They also have a washer and dryer on site.

We stayed at Palm Grove as a Family and had the most wonderful time. We were all made so very welcome and cannot thank all the staff enough. It was a very special time for us all and we had a great stay. Our accommodation was perfect, beautiful location and very clean. The Yellow Hibiscus Restaurant served exquisite food and drinks. The breakfast was delicious everyday with the option of a cooked breakfast which the children had on a number of occasions. We recommend snorkeling at the beautiful Lagoon, it will not disappoint. When planning the trip to Rarotonga, our travel agent offered a number of accommodation options to choose from. I read up on each one, but for some reason, I was continually drawn to Palm Grove. We are so pleased I chose this resort. Once we got thru customs, we were immediately greeted by Thai with leis. Once we checked in at the airport location, we were whisked away to the resort. Our flight from Honolulu arrived late at night, but Thai made sure everything was "good to go" upon arrival. Our bungalow was situated on the beach (less than 20 yards from the ocean) with amazing views. From that point on, our stay was fabulous, the service was impeccable, and anything we needed was readily available. Daily room service, daily breakfast at the Yellow Hibiscus, laundry, pool, Vodafone service, scooter rental, kayak, snorkeling gear, and more. Mama Tum and her crew went above and beyond to ensure our stay was amazing, and it was. Oh, and if you wanted to be "one with nature," the roosters, hens, baby chicks, myna birds, and our local canine (we named Cook) will keep you company. If I may make a brief plug, please donate to the Cook Islands SPCA as they help many of the animals survive day to day. Can't say enough good things about Palm Grove. Definitely a place we'll return to next time we visit Rarotonga.

After reading all the reviews we thought this place sounded great !!! On arrival the bed configuration was wrong and apparently that was my fault!! NOT!! But they did change it, the attitude of the owner Betsy is terrible, rude, cold, unfriendly, walks past and never speaks, and very unapproachable, didn’t even say goodbye or thanks and the group of us provided her resort with alot of money. The room was cleanish, fridge was rusty, towels had holes in them and cream with age, housekeeping dont do alot, changing towels no sweeping floors or cleaning shower etc and we were there for 10 days. We spoke to some other guests and they had been there 10 years ago and said it was exactly the same then, in need of some serious money being spent on it. On weekends office closes at 12 and you cant get any snorkeling gear until the next morning which is a pain as its locked away and sometimes its a spur of the moment to want to go. The best thing about the place is Mama T an amazing friendly cook island local who works in office and restaurant, nothing was an issue for her and Tai the groundsman and transfer driver, great guy, and the grounds are lovely around the pool. The beach across the road is another bonus its great

The location is perfect right next to the stunning beach, and the area and garden are well maintained. We stayed in a beachfront studio, and the view was amazing. It felt like we had our own beach, and you can snorkle right from the beach. The accommodation itself was spacious. It could use a bit of an upgrade, but the view made you forget it was a bit dated. The staff was absolutely fantastic and made you feel so welcome. The breakfast is very basic. The Sunday BBQ was so good, and we also enjoyed the a la carte options. You can walk to a small supermarket and a few restaurants.
