Beautiful Riad located just two minutes walk from Bab Kasbah (where the taxi drops you). Lovely room with all that I needed (clean towels, toiletries, space, comfy bed). The breakfast is incredible - bread, croissant, jams, honey, butter, delicious yoghurt, fruit, apple compote, egg prepared according to choice. Access to a stunning terrace with comfy patio furniture and a jungle of beautiful plants. For me, the highlight were the staff at the hotel who were always available for a chat, always offer tea/coffee, always smile and give their tips about exploring Tangier. Especially Ayyoub, the night receptionist, was always available for a chat and tea when I got back to the riad after a day out.

Amazing place tucked away in a side street with many traditional decorations and beautiful rugs. Staff spoke very good English and were very helpful in assisting us with navigating the streets in the old town. Breakfast was a delicious combination of moroccan foods and I started to like mint tea (without sugar!)

We stayed 4 nights in February 2024 at Dar Sultan, Old Medina, Tangier, having arrived from a 3 night stay in Chefchaouen “The Blue City” - 2 hours south and highly recommended. Our room “Malabata” was on one of the upper floors and adjacent to the outdoor garden space which we enjoyed many times during our stay. Be aware this public area is immediately adjacent to Malabata front door and windows, so this could be an issue to consider in High Season, if fellow guests are enjoying late night drinks. It wasn’t an issue for us at all & it made what was a “compact” room feel much more spacious. The Dar Sultan is a beautiful building and filled with many items of historic interest, but what makes it so special are the wonderful staff - absolutely first class and so welcoming…..nothing was too much trouble and if we are ever back in Tangier, that is where we’ll stay again. Be aware the staircases are narrow and steep, so if you have mobility issues, it may not be suitable for you. We are both in our late 60’s and no problems…..other than accepting the offer to bring our cases down for us on departure! We were given many recommendations and if you are after a high quality dining experience (at reasonable prices) then try El Morocco Club, which is only 2 minutes away. That same establishment runs a cafe in the adjacent square during the day and that was equally excellent. For a lower cost Italian style meal, turn right out of the El Morocco Club and and a few hundred metres in front of you is a white building (with great views) serving the best pasta my partner says she has ever had＞

The location was great, just inside the medina. It was a walk downhill to the main street of the medina. The room was pretty spacious, including the bathroom. I really enjoyed the typical Moroccan breakfast. Service was very friendly and helpful.

the most wonderful place to be in when visiting tangiers. note: the entrance to the guest house is on rue cheikh abdessamad guenoun and google map directions are tricky in the old medina which is only accessible by foot, but once there you are in for a treat. lovely people working there, exquisite rooms, right in the heart of old tangiers. amazing breakfasts in a place that cannot be faulted. you would be mad to go anywhere else.

Phenomenal large historic house in the old Kasbah, lovingly converted to a distinctive boutique hotel. Each room different, common spaces remarkable, quiet and comfortable, phenomenal staff, incredible roof terrace for generous breakfasts every morning, the whole place full of colorful and interesting art, objects, furnishings.Perfect location in the Kasbah. We had three rooms for three couples. Would stay there again!

We stayed at Dar Sultan two nights and the stay and staff were amazing and so accommodating. We would definitely stay there again. The guesthouse is at the top of the hill in the Kasbah and in a great location. We stayed in the Charf room and it had spectacular views. Breakfast was also very good. This building is 300 years old which just adds to the charm. Also I have seen comments about the cats and allergies. I am extremely allergic to them and did not have a hint of a reaction. We can’t wait to go back!
